The 28th South African Music Awards go vinyl this Sunday 28 August with a comeback from the past.

They've been virtual for the past two years but this year they'll be in the flesh, with a live broadcast from Sun City on SABC1 starting at 20h00.

The red carpet won't be on TV but will stream on both SABC1's YouTube channel and on TikTok, hosted by Selimathunzi's Zanele Potelwa. 

The awards are split into two nights and TikTok will be streaming Night 1 on 27 August.

Night 2 airs on SABC1 exclusively and TikTok's going to stream footage of what's going on behind-the-scenes.

Nandi Madida's on the other side of things this year after winning a SAMA last year for her collaboration with K.O. 

She isn't nominated this year but she's co-hosting with Lawrence Maleka, who's returning for a second year in a row.

As for the nominees... Zakes Bantwini, who's teasing a retirement, headlines with a total of seven nods, followed by DJ Maphorisa who has six.
