Idols SA Season 18 auditions: the what, where, how

You've seen the news in the TVSA News Shorts and loads of other places on the internet: Idols ain't going nowhere.

The only factors that are disappearing are Randall Abrahams and Unathi uWeepy who won't be back for the new season.

And Somizi? It's looking highly likely that he'll back because:

1. He only "took some time off" from Idols when he was accused of domestic abuse during Season 17.

2. He wasn't mentioned in Mzansi Magic's recent statement about Randall and Unathi leaving.

3. The channel won't confirm whether he's in or out.

The new judges will be announced soon-ish apparently. In the meantime, here's what you need to know about the auditions:

How to audition

Same as last year... you need to perform and video a 30-second clip of yourself singing - only. No talking or introductions.

It must be your voice only, so no instruments can be included.

You can upload your video with your application form, which you'll find here: Idols 18 entry forms

What to expect afterwards

You'll receive an e-mail letting you know if your audition has been successful. If so, you'll be invited to audition for the Idols judges, whoever they might be.

Deadline

Applications opened on Sunday 23 January and close at 22h00 on Saturday 5 February or once 15,000 auditions have been received by the production, whichever comes first.
