Special notes

No-shows

1Magic's Lingashoni (on Compact Plus and Premium) and M-Net's Love Island South Africa (on Premium) were extended to Compact subscribers towards the end of March but neither made it to the Top 30 list on DStv despite access to additional viewers.

This is in stark contrast to the heady heights achieved by Gomora, eHostela and The Queen when they were extended from Compact to Family and Access viewers in January.

This means that:

1. Compact viewers aren't interested in watching a few episodes of a show they can't see on a regular basis.

2. They weren't interested enough in either show to tune in.

3. They don't want to be manipulated into upsizing their DStv package.

4. They didn't know these shows were available to them over this time.

5. All of the above.

6. Your take?

Lingashoni was available to Compact viewers from its premiere on 22 March until 28 March and Love Island from 26 to 28 March.

SS Grandstand and ESPN2 were also available to Compact over this time.

And now for the news

The Xhosa news bulletin on SABC1 on 30 March which attracted 3 823 686 viewers... this was Noxolo Grootboom's swansong.

Lingashoni was available for only 4 days only were as Gomora was longer and many people were on lockdown and could watch, if lingashoni was also available to Access subscribers it would have been different, but I don't think the is doing bad or is it?
