Wanna date actor Neels van Jaarsveld? Here's how!

Actor Neels van Jaarsveld takes on an alternative new role in 2021 when he steps up as The Bachelor of a new kykNET reality show called Op my Eish.

The 13-episode series follows Neels on a mission to find a soul mate for his real life.

The fact that it stars an actor who we actually know makes it more authentic than the versions on M-Net whereby the singletons are always schmodels who split from their Chosen Ones in a heartbeat.

In contrast to the local Bachelor's we've had, many people are familiar with Neels through his extensive TV and theatre repertoire.

He's played Dr Gideon Basson on all nine seasons of Binnelanders and is also well known for his "Met eish" Klipdrift ads, echoed in the show's title and his stage show.

In 2017 Neels penned an autobiographical one-man show called Op my Eish, which was based on his life up until that point.

Clearly this new reality series is an extension of that because when he wrote his stage show he was still married.

He married in April 2017 and in late 2018 he announced that him and his wife Jeanne Flynn had split, saying on Facebook: "We have gradually grown apart but remain close friends & wish each other all the best for the future."

Two years later and this is where he's "at" now:

Neels: “I enjoy being an actor, but I miss having someone special next to me - someone that can share the ups and downs of life with me; someone that I can enjoy the small things in life with, who can make me laugh and who I can make memories with.

“I’m at a stage in my life where I’m serious about finding love. Op my Eish is a new chapter in my life, an adventure and rollercoaster ride with the hope of finding love.”
