We've all been waiting for it happen to one of the SABC channels but in a bizarre twist of reality it happened to eNCA instead.

On Monday night (19 August) the news channel was struck by a blue screen of death that ransacked primetime between 20h00 and 21h00.

This is the message that greeted viewers who tuned in:

eNCA was deafeningly silent on the cause which led to multiple conspiracy theories on Twitter ranging from theories that the channel had been hacked by the Chinese to accusations it had been captured by CR17 donors to suspicion that their technical personal were high on a massive bong.

So what was the problem?!

TVSA has asked eNCA for clarity on what happened so let's wait to see what they say.

Aha... a response to our query... from eNCA News Director Ben Said:

“The area of Dunkeld West experienced a power outage late on Monday night.  Generators at our studios kicked in but later malfunctioned. Within less than an hour, we diverted to recorded programming from our Cape Town studios. eNCA's technical teams worked throughout the night and brought the channel back on-air for normal programming at 6am.”
