Kayla has recovered from her abduction. Steve calls Joey, who coolly tells his father Kayla is fine, but he should not come home – neither he nor Kayla want him back. Rafe confronts Andre, warning him to stay away from Hope. Abigail calls Chad on his desire to elope.

Claire admits to Belle she didn’t make the cut at Juilliard. Belle then runs into Shawn at the police station and learns he’s decided to stay in Salem.

Rafe collects evidence at the DiMera mansion, leaving Chad with the idea that Andre killed Stefano. Ciara and Theo bond, which is witnessed by Chase. Kayla presses Steve to tell her what happened while she was kidnapped. Claire and Belle argue over Belle’s sudden windfall. Belle admits Sami gave her money.

Theresa demands to know what’s going on, and an agitated Summer flees. Joey reels over Steve’s confession about sleeping with Ava in order to save Kayla. Kayla returns home to find Ava unconscious on the floor, a hypodermic needle sticking out of her arm.

Summer explains to Brady that Daniel was convinced they must be related. Kayla tries to revive Ava. The paramedics arrive and take her to the hospital. Joey, in a bad place off of his conversation with Steve, makes a new, unlikely friend in a girl named Jade, and they decide to go to a pop-up party.

Ava continues to accuse Kayla of trying to kill her by injecting her with morphine. Back from his party, Joey learns from Steve about Ava's latest stunt. Furious Joey goes to Ava's hospital room and starts smothering her with a pillow. Theo is worried about Ciara, who's not responding to his texts.

Steve finds Joey smothering Ava with a pillow and pulls his son away. But it’s too late – Ava is dead. Hope finally confesses to killing Stefano, and Roman assures he will keep her secret. Rafe breaks the news to Chad – the police found Stefano’s body. Chad confronts Andre, and refuses to believe he’s innocent.
