Johan Stemmet has been in front of the Noot vir Noot cameras for 27 and a half years and now he's bowing out of the role to step behind-the-scenes of the series he co-created with musical director Johan van Rensburg.

After 44 seasons, the legendary and charismatic Johan Stemmet is hanging up his boots as the presenter of Noot vir Noot.

The show was first broadcast in July 1991 under the then TV1 Channel, making it the longest running music game show in South Africa and the continent.

“Noot vir Noot is a household and much-loved brand that many South Africans grew up with and Johan has been instrumental in its success both on and off screen. The secret to Noot vir Noot’s longevity has been Johan’s ability to constantly evolve the show to keep abreast with the latest music and programming trends in music game shows,” says Jacqui Hlongwane, SABC2’s Programme Manager. The show has attracted a diverse and intergenerational audience over the years.

Noot vir Noot will continue in a new format with a new host. Johan Stemmet will be part of the creative and editorial team for the new show.

Viewers can catch the very last episode of Noot vir Noot as presented by Johan Stemmet’s, next week Thursday (24 January 2019) at 19h00 on SABC2.
