If you're a DJ, singer or musician - or a combo - with a need to get your talent heard and seen, this could be Your Ticket...

SABC1 has acquired the rights to the international reality format The Remix and the search is on for trios who want to strut their stuff for a cash prize.

This is the format:

10 groups, each made up of a trio of a strong vocalist, DJ/Producer and third musical member (e.g. an instrumentalist) compete head to head each week until only one group is left standing.

Groups must create a Remix within a given theme or musical genre. Working together, they must create a unique sound and bring new flavour to existing local and international hits. They also have to do justice to the original track.

The groups perform their Remix in front of a live studio audience and celebrity judges. They're judged on the Remix that they produce as well as the performance they give. The worst performance of the night is eliminated until only one group remains at the end of the series.

The search is on

If you think you have what it takes to win the show, then read on...

You don't need to be in a crew already - you can create one to enter.

If you do have a crew, bonus!

Who can enter?

Each member of the group needs to be between the ages of 18 to 35 to enter.

You need to be a South African citizen or a resident who is eligible to work in South Africa fulltime.

Who should your crew consist of?

Each group must consist of the following three members:

- A DJ / Producer with a proven ability to scratch and mix.
- A vocalist.
- A third creative contributor of your choice who must also be able to perform. For example, an additional
DJ/Producer, an instrumentalist, or a vocalist.

How to enter

Step 1: Get your stuff together

Prepare a video clip on a smart phone / recording device of the following:

- A popular song of two minutes in length which must be a live performance with live vocals
and instrumentation (if you're using any)
- Your DJ/Producer member of your group must be able to mix live and in performance and must be
skilled in any of the major music softwares: Logic, Fruity Loops, Cubase and Garage Band etc. He/She
must also have a basic set-up to work and produce if selected to participate.

Step 2: Apply to audition

Once you've done this, you need to submit a completed entry form, which you'll find here: The Remix SA entry form

Please note: Your entry must include a link to your video clip in the space provided on the form.

If you use Google Drive, Dropbox or WeTransfer, you must ensure that you share the link with
info@blackswanmedia.tv.

You need to ensure that both the form and video clip have been submitted. If one of them is missing you won't be considered for the auditions.

Closing date for these entries: 23h59 on 30 May.

Step 3: Get invited to audition (or not)

If the production considers your entry to be of a high enough standard, you'll be invited to audition.

Auditions are happening in Durban, Cape Town and Johannesburg in early June.

At these auditions, you'll need to perform three 90-second tracks in one of these styles:

- Gqom
- Hip-hop
- Any of the house styles

You'll need to select the three tracks you are going to perform from the following list of songs:

1. Brenda Fassie - Weekend Special
2. Hugh Masekela - Chilese
3. Mandoza - Nkalakatha
4. Miriam Makeba - A Luta Continua
5. Shekinah - Suited
6. Samthing Soweto - Akanamali
7. Lira - Nguyazifela
8. Khalid - Young Dumb and Broke
9. Rihanna - Wild Thoughts
10. Pink - What About Us?

You'll find further details about the auditions, as well as the Terms and Conditions of the competition right here: The Remix - Entry Guidelines.
