Uzalo puts an exclamation mark on MaNzuza and Smangele's deaths tonight with a double bill funeral Special attended by the Who's Who of KwaZulu-Natal.
The episode bids farewell to Leleti Khumalo and Sihle Ndaba, who've played MaNzuza and Smangele since Season 1 in 2015, and it's an elaborate affair, decorated by real world famous faces.
Gospel singer Hlengiwe Mhlaba will lead the congregation in song and the Mayor of Durban, Zandile Gumede, makes an appearance as herself.
Kid Sithole (Hotel Rwanda, The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency) plays the role of Pastor Goba, who pulpits the proceedings, and
Ukhozi FM's Dudu "Lady D" Khoza will MC.
Other names joining the Uzalo stars in the pews include Babes Wodumo and
her handbag Mampintsha, Kwaito artist Tzozo, The Sing-Off winners The Legacy, panty-boycotter Zodwa Wabantu, Durban duo Distruction Boyz and gospel wild child Dumi Mkokstad.
The funeral's going to be a send-off that none of the guests expect and explores the theme of violence against women.
The congregation will have to hold on to their faith - and their weapons in some cases, if they want to make it out alive. It's one of those days that everyone wants to forget but it's going to be engraved in everyone's minds forever.
