Pedro finds out that Bernardita manipulated Joaquín and asks her to move out. Juana gets close to María so that Evaristo can find her, but she ends up climbing into a taxi with Marcelo.

Chiripa wants to go to the cove, but Sergio damages the truck so they can't travel. Paola calls a mechanic who fixes it. When they are about to leave, they see María.

Bernardita arrives at Marta's birthday completely drunk and is aggressive towards Paola and Sergio for not being able to have children of their own.

Pedro tells to María that he is unable to stop thinking about her. Bernardita's car gets a flat tyre and she meets Evaristo. Meanwhile, Juana decides to return to the cove.

Pedro's feelings towards María are still strong and he tells her that he broke up with Bernardita. Evaristo meets Bernardita in her shop and they soon become lovers.

Bernardita tries to run over María. Afterwards, María confronts Bernardita, who denies any involvement in the accident. Inadvertently, Paola destroys Chiripa's picture of María.

Bernardita looks for María to get information. Then she calls Evaristo to her shop, but she is being watched by Juana. Chiripa is delivering groceries to the boarding house and fails to see Evaristo.

Bernardita realises that Evaristo is married to María. Paola is cross with Sergio for going to the cemetery to see Sofia, then she tells Sergio to formalise Chiripa's adoption.

Bernardita sends an anonymous message to María, but María believes it was sent by Evaristo and panics, calling Pedro to help her. Knowing that María is near, Sergio doesn't agree to adopt Chiripa.

Chiripa decides to surrender himself to the police, but Sergio and Paola manage to find him before he gets a chance. Bernardita sets a trap for María to be caught by Evaristo.

Evaristo finds María in the square, but she manages to escape him. Juana is looking for Chiripa and is recognised by Paola. Pedro calls the police and finds out that the detective does not exist.

Bernardita asks Pedro to admit that he is in love with María. Later she faints and in the clinic she is informed she is pregnant, but she is not aware that the father is Evaristo.

Marta cannot believe that Pedro is the father and goes out looking for Bernardita to ask her directly. Pedro defends Bernardita. Later, Pedro goes to talk to María, but he sees her with Marcelo.

Juana warns Bernardita to stay away from Evaristo. Later, Bernardita informs the restaurant staff of her pregnancy and urges Pedro to tell the good news to Joaquín.

Sergio is considering breaking up with Paola. Bernardita tells Joaquín that he is about to have a little brother. Pedro doesn't like it because Joaquín doesn't accept the situation.
