Guests and topics coming up this week:

Monday 3 April 2017
Lindiwe Hani

In her tell-all memoir, Lindiwe Hani, writes about how the assassination of her father sent her on a downward spiral into cocaine and alcohol addiction. Being Chris Hani’s Daughter lays to bare the inedible pain of loss inflicted on her family and especially her; facing her addiction demons and meeting the ‘Mastermind’ behind her father’s assassination and the man who pulled the trigger.

Lindiwe’s father, SACP secretary general, Chris Hani was assassinated on the 10th of April 1993 in the driveway of his home. Lindiwe, who was just 12 years old at that time, shares the long lasting ripple effect of consequences it had for her and her family.

She also discusses the journey leading to the book (co-written with journalist Melinda Ferguson), like meeting Clive Derby-Lewis and Janusz Walus, who she says she ultimately felt empathy for as he was the last man who had seen her father’s face.

She grew accustomed to performing at the age of 4 when she was cast as the lead in a ballet production and has not looked back since.

Nandi’s rise to fame came courtesy of her 2011 single ‘Tonight’, which was produced by DJ Franky.  Her debut album, ‘Nandi’ followed shortly after that. Anele talks to her about her rise to fame, her husband Zakes Bantini and their son Shaka.
