Thandiswa Mazwai


Thandiswa Mazwai began her musical journey back in 1998 with South Africa’s pioneering band Bongo Muffin. After 6 award-winning albums with Bongo Muffin, she ventured into a solo career.

Her sound is a mix of Xhosa Rhymes, Mbhaqanga, Reggae and Jazz fused with her politically conscious lyrics.  Her achievements are no surprise considering she was born in 1976, the year of the Soweto Uprising.
