SA's Got Talent swept through Cape Town recently for show's final auditions for the new season coming up in spring, on 4 September.
I had supper with the crew on the night before the auditions and chatted to Tol Ass Mo and DJ Fresh who were both sporting the same hairstyle, described by Big Dawg as a "Sis Ribs" Do.
I asked them something I always wonder about schlebs who are known by different names...
Tashi: What does your wife (Thabiso Sikwane) call you? Fresh? Big Dawg??
DJ Fresh: She calls me baby I think. When I'm in trouble she calls me Thato, my real name.
Tashi: What do the majority of people call you?
DJ Fresh: Geez it varies, some people call me Thato because when I did breakfast at Y, it was the Fresh Breakfast show with Thato and Thato. A lot of people call me Big Dawg too - the last 16 years it's been Big Dawg.
Tashi: What's your favourite?
DJ Fresh: I don't have a favourite hey. I don't care what you call me, just call me.
Tashi to Mome: What do you call Tol Ass Mo at home?
Mome: I call him baby and when I'm angry I call him Mo.

mimicking Mome): MO. Come

Tashi: So Mo, you know based on the name you're called...
Mome: ... if there's something wrong.
Tashi: What do people call you when they meet you?
Mo: So many different names - so many people get it wrong. Some people are like, "Hi Tall and Small", some others are like, "Hi Toilet Mo," I'm like, "Toilet Mo?? What the ffffff??"
Mome: Or Tolasmo.
Mo: Or Tolasmo as one word. Or TolaMoses.
Tashi: Do you correct them?
Mo: I do and then they're like, "Oooooh, it's Tall and Small."
Tashi: What do you call Mome?
Mo: Oh my shuga binga booly booby. My shuga lump plump delicious.
Mome: These always change. It could be my "shuga binga boo" or "my shuga banga boo or boolah" - I don't know, it depends on the mood.
Mo: Hehehe, it does. I named our production company after her - it's called Shuga Binga Boo productions.
