The TAMS are back and so is Gen!

Back!

Those of you who used to love our TAMS coverage will be pleased to hear that all is not lost.

As you very possibly know, TVSA stopped covering the TAMS this year after the Broadcast Research Council imposed a crippling fee for the TAMS weekly reports which we used to work from for our weekly coverage.

We explained the situation in March this year and complained about the limited information that the BRC was supplying instead, namely: a monthly Top 10 which gave an extremely limited overall picture of what's happening with the numbers.

The good news is that the BRC increased the amount of information available after we complained. They're now providing monthly Top 20 listings instead, which we feel gives a more representative perspective on what's happening with the shows on each channel.

They've also been consistent with publishing the monthly reports so we've decided to start publishing them.

And they feature mega news for Generations fans. Gen has reclaimed its throne in the ratings to take the No.1 spot from Uzalo.

Tuck in...

Please note:

- The numbers aren't an average of each show's episodes across the month but represent the most watched episodes on each channel for the month.
- This is the only information available so it isn't possible to create lists of shows according the most popular in genre.

For further explanation on the TAMS, please see: The TAMS ratings explained.

Yes!!! So happy for these but mostly happy for my favourite show, Generations, being the #1 show in the country, back to its rightful place! haha

Igazi! I hope they don't turn this into a soap.

I'm just happy that Gen made prophets of doom and detractors eat humble pie, especially considering that its return was met with hateful criticism and somewhat ruthless vilification on social media. In this heavily competitive TV industry, I think it deserves some praise having survived this far and still be among the top-rated shows. I had doubts too. Hopefully it will get better and cement its rightful and familiar place at the top.

They were acting like fortune tellers predicting Mfundi's downfall. Now they have no choice but to put some RESPECK on his name.
