Fear the Walking Dead exceeds all expectations

What a show!

I was very concerned that Fear the Walking Dead wouldn't be as brilliant as The Walking Dead for all the usual reasons associated with a spin-off but I needn't have Feared because it's absolutely, excellently awesome.

It premiered on AMC last week Monday (24 August) so this past Monday was episode 2. If you've missed it, you can get the deets here: Fear the Walking Dead.

I've watched both episodes and I'm mad about every aspect of it... the sense of foreboding that emanates through each millisecond, the Johnny Depp lookalike (Frank Dillane) who plays the lead role of Nick and the superb handling of time.

We know what's going to happen in the future, how terrible things are going to be once the apocalypse reaches its full impact and yet only a few of them have seen the true horror of where things are going. It creates such an ominous, eerie feeling.

I also lurve that you keep thinking about our other heroes on Walking Dead. Imagining that everyone will meet at some point in the future, wondering what it will be like and how Rick & Co. will respond when they do.

Fear the Walking Dead only has six episodes in the first season but it's already been renewed for a second season of 15 episodes so I'm convinced they'll hook-up. I predict it's going to happen at the end of Season 2.

What's also so excellent is that we're constantly going to have seasons airing - it's like living in a parallel universe to the characters because when one show finishes a season, the second show will return for a new one and vice versa.

Bring it on!

I've just discovered that there isn't a new episode this Monday (7th) - it's Labour Day in America. Episode 2's going to be repeated instead and eps 3 will be on the week after.
