Talk about bringing in the Big Guns. ANN7 has secured Christina Aguilera for the channel's upcoming South African of the Year Awards.
The ceremony's coming up in October and she'll be performing on the night. Other confirmed performers so far include AKA, The Soil, ChianoSky and US singer Jason Derulo.
It's an excellent move by the channel because Christina's the Real Deal. She's an ultimate A-Lister so it really is a big deal that she'll be part of things - unlike other award ceremonies that deliver hosts we hardly know. #SideEyeToTheMAMAs
Christina's also a MUCH better choice than the international headline act from last year's ceremony when had to suffer Nicole Scherzinger.
All in all I'm very happy with Christina. From the sounds of it the channel also has our needs in good perspective. They seem to understand that we don't want our local ceremonies to be all about the international acts and they want the ceremony to be recognised on the global stage too:
