2015 MAMAs to award Artist of the Decade

Mafikozolo (at the 2014 MAMAs): deserving nominees for Artist of the Decade.

The 2015 MTV Africa Music Awards are coming up in the middle of winter - a month later than last year. The nominees are being announced in June and the ceremony's happening in July - in Durban again - at the ICC.

It's been 10 years since MTV Base first launched on DStv so the awards are celebrating the milestone by adding a special category for the year: Artist of the Decade.

There are 17 categories in total. They are:

Artist of the Decade
Best Male
Best Female
Best Group
Best New Act Transformed by Absolute
Best Live Act
Best Collaboration
Best Hip Hop
Best Alternative
Best Francophone
Best Lusophone
Best International
Video of the Year
Artist of the Year
Song of the Year
Personality of the Year
MTV Base Leadership Award

The Artist of the Decade will no doubt be the Most Prestigious award of the year because it says a lot about the winner. Artists win Song of the Year and Artist of the Year all the time but it's very seldom that they win an award that spans 10 years.

Who should get a nod in the category? Who deserves it most?
