Z'bondiwe: e.tv's new action drama
TX: Premiere on Tuesday, 12 May 2015 at 9:30PM

e.tv introduces a brand new local blockbuster, Z’bondiwe, a gritty drama about love entangled in the dark underworld of gangsterism. Z’bondiwe is set in Soweto and starts on Tuesday, 12 May at 9.30PM just after Matatiele.

“e.tv is committed to deliver content that resonates with our audience. South Africans love drama and we are excited to dish more of the genre, Tuesday back to back local drama feast is geared to ensure that we remain the entertainment destination of choice.

"Z’bondiwe is fresh, it is a combination of the raw SA’ street culture with a twist of love and intrigue. There are new edgy stories to be told and we are at the casp of this revolution, said Monde Twala, Managing director for e.tv Channels Division.

It’s an action packed gangster drama which will give viewers a thought-provoking perspective of life in a township.  Two notorious gangs – The Vutha Boys and The Mambas rule the township and are fierce rivals that date way back. In typical gang fashion, fights result in bloodbaths.

Drugs, money lending scams, stolen cars and prostitution is the menu of the day in Z’bondiwe. The drama explores love, obsession and sacrifice between brothers, lovers and families. It’s a question of how far one is willing to go for the love of something close to their heart.

According to the show’s Creative Producer Roberta Durrant, “It is very exciting for Paw Paw to be doing the action drama with so much emotion and human interest, telling a story with social relevance. We have an excellent cast and crew motivated by a desire to tell authentic stories about South Africa. Our directing team is highly skilled. e.tv viewers can look forward to a highly entertaining series with intrigue, heartfelt drama and action,” she enthused.

Z’bondiwe is currently in production and the set features different locations all over Johannesburg, from Diepkloof extension, Parktown as well as Orlando in Soweto. Paw Paw Films, the production house for this hard-boiled action-packed drama have ensured that the series has all the makings of a great local drama with high production values and a competent crew.
