M-Net Series Zone to become M-Net City

The last remnant of M-Net's "M-Net Series" fiasco disappears in early April when M-Net Series Zone goes through a name change and reschedule.

M-Net Series Showcase and Reality became M-Net Edge and Vuzu AMP in October last year so Zone's the final and most disastrous "Series" channel.

On Monday, 6 April it changes name to M-Net City and switches to a new schedule. The schedule structure mirrors the schedule on M-Net Edge so it features daily themed programming blocks and weekend binges.

The new structure:

Weekdays, 17h00 - 19h00
Talk shows

Weekdays, 19h00 - 19h30
Comedies

Weekdays, 20h00 - 21h00
Action and crime series

The concept of the channel remains the same so it'll continue to feature international content previously broadcast in first-run by the Premium bouquet M-Net channels. There is a notable addition to it though: weekend movies.

DStv Compact subscribers have never had access to the movies on the M-Net channels before so it's the first time it's happening. Whether they're a valuable addition or not depends on what's screening of course. Movies will air on Saturdays and Sundays in early primetime and the rest of the weekend schedule will be binge sessions.

Zone goes dark at midnight on Sunday, 5 April and M-Net City goes live at 17h00 on the Monday.

I had a look at the channel's April line up and much is left to be desired. Nothing earth shaking. Same number of shows + outdated movies. P.S. And still Jerry "Bloody" Springer! MXM!
