Cool news for Top Gear fans ... the new season's going to be simulcast with the UK so it will air here as it airs in the UK.
It's a Big First for a show on DSTV. Award ceremonies and the American Idol finale always air live so we've had the experience intermittently but we've never had a weekly series air at the exact same time as it airs in it's country of origin. Hopefully it's a sign of more to come.

New Season of Top Gear to simulcast with UK on BBC Entertainment

For the first time, South African viewers will be able to watch the new series of
Top Gear on
BBC Entertainment within minutes of it airing in the UK. The latest season of
Top Gear will premiere at
20:00 on January 25.
Exclusive to
BBC Entertainment, this new extended season will see J
eremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and
James May on explosive form. Amongst other adventures, the trio attempt to reinvent the ambulance, investigate the strange world of classic car ownership, take part in a nail-biting race across St Petersburg and set off on an epic road trip through the wilds of Australia.
Also in this season, Clarkson and May look at the highs and lows of one of France’s biggest car makers, Hammond pays a dramatic tribute to the dying days of the Land Rover Defender and Clarkson makes up his mind about the BMW i8 hybrid on a trip to buy some fish & chips.
Meanwhile, out on the test track there’s a scorching line-up of fast cars including the Lamborghini Huracan, the Mercedes AMG GT, the Jaguar F-type R, the Chevrolet Corvette Stingray and the Porsche Cayman GTS.
And as if that wasn’t enough, the season starts with a sensational special in which the presenters pay tribute to the V8 engine with an epic and arduous trip to the very tip of South America.

Top Gear fans can whet their appetites for the new season with a new two-part
Top Gear Patagonia Special – an epic road trip through South America with Clarkson, Hammond and May.
The special features the most gruelling car exploits yet, as the boys take three V8 sports cars on a 1600 mile trek through Patagonia.
Top Gear Patagonia Special will premiere on
BBC Entertainment as a double bill on Sunday January 18th at 18:40.
The usual habitat for a Porsche 928, a Lotus Esprit and a Ford Mustang is the civilized world of tarmac, but in the hands of Clarkson, May and Hammond, these three sports-bred machines face swamps, deserts, forests, beaches and ski slopes as they try to get to the southernmost city in the world, in order to stage an epic game of car soccer against Argentina.
Along the way there are broken bones, epic backdrops, mechanical calamities and cows, plus a climax that wasn't exactly the one that was expected.
