New Miss SA crowned at Maslow Hotel

When Ziphozakhe Zokufa came second in last year’s Miss SA pageant, she never in her wildest dreams thought she would one day wake up and instantly convert to Miss SA.

Well, as fate may have she now officially, unapologetically and profusely wears the platinum-infused Miss SA crown, this after the former Miss SA Rolene Strauss snatched the Miss World crown from unsuspecting 124 hopefuls from all over the world last Sunday.

The Miss SA team, handheld by Sun International and Cell C, invited all media houses to The Maslow hotel in Sandton to officially crown Ziphozakhe Zokufa who now takes over where Strauss left off. She will be representing South Africa in Miss Universe in January 2015 and also hand over the crown to the new Miss SA next year March.

In her speech yesterday Zokufa said:  “On hearing the news that Rolene was crowned the new Miss World, I suddenly realized that it was now my turn to fill the void left by Rolene. My heart was in my throat with pride and joy for her and for South Africa”.

“Opportunities are there to be taken, and that is part of the reasons I entered Miss South Africa. So that I could encourage our youth to go out there and grab opportunities that are afforded to them,” the confident beauty continued.

Zokufa was presented with a brand new Mini Cooper, courtesy of Sun International. We hope she is getting more prizes though. Minister of Sports and Recreation Fikile “Mr Razzmatazz” Mbalula himself came to show support and gave the “Rolene is a Bunch of a Winner” speech and entertained as usual.

Bonang and Anele Mdoda who were in the judging panel that chose Rolene were also there to congratulate the new title holder.

Managed to get a snap of the former Miss SA Claudia Henkel

I wanted to do a quick interview with Ziphozakhe after the crowning, but over 20 journalists were already in line, and I was told I would only speak to her after 3/4 hours. So I left L. We wish Ziphozakhe all the BEST in her short reign as Miss SA, and we’ll be cheering on her at the Miss Universe come the 25th January 2015.
