With the Durban and Cape Town concerts being cancelled (due to poor ticket sales), all eyes were on the Johannesburg ZarFest, to see whether or not it would happen. Fortunately it happened!
We braved the cold and made our way to witness the most talked about concert. We were quite surprised that there was no traffic to get into the venue, as it normally happens when there are Big names scheduled to perform.
People came in numbers and although the concert was well attended, the venue was not sold out. This was another shock, it was monthend, so what was the excuse?
We got there when Lil Kim was performing on stage. It was good to note that I still remembered most of her songs above the popular Put Your Lighters Up.
Whaaaaaat? Something is just not right about this outfit. It is Lil Kim afterall and atleast she's "dressed" for a change, but that outfit is "wrongo"
Dj Scratch did his thing on the decks and I must confess, he's really good at it, but we were too anxious to see Ciara.
The crowd went barkwild when Cici, came on stage and gave such an electrifying perfomance. Forget Beyonce and Lady Gaga, Ciara is Queen of the dancefloor
Some BEE guy was yelling at the top of his voice and telling me that he'd divorce for Ciara. Now, why he was telling me that, only he knows. Back to Ciara, she was my headline act and the best performance of the night.
However, the ZarFest headline act was the biggest producer himself Timbaland. Big in a sense of his status in the music business and literally so, when did he gain all that weight?
These Chicken wings in some delish sauce, are worth mentioning, that's how good they were. Actually all the food was yummy, but not so yummy was the cash bar. We wouldn't mind a cash bar anywhere else, but not when it's a MR Sushi gig.
Many of Mzansi's familiar faces didn't grace the event. Ok, let me be blunt, apparently they were not invited. Why? Ask Mr Sushi.
Moving along... Speedy was there and I didn't see the towel
Big Brother Amplified was in the house. Nkuli and Michael were in attendance and they seemed too happy to be out of the house
Tbo Touch was the MC together with Channel O's Lungsta. In blue is Prince.
Channel O's O Access Presenter Dineo was also in attendance. She's quite beautiful. NoHomo
Then Kenny Mr Sushi Kunene took to the stage and went on about how people thought he'd fail to bring Top US Artists to our shores.... FYI Kenny, I'm personally glad you brought Ciara to our shores, I just couldn't die without seeing her perform live.
See, atleast someone is grateful for all your efforts and the concert was good. We know that Timbaland has higher financial standing and experience than Ciara, but performance wise Ciara owns the stage. She should have been the headline act considering that Timbaland was performing other artist's songs that he was featured on. That's my R1 worth, use it or don't...
I also had my groupie moment: Pruluv and Ciara. Yeahness!
