It hasn't aired yet and already it's causing such an international buzz. Even CNN is talking about the new Reality Show by Nelson Mandela's grandchildren.
Strange enough it has ZERO to do with Nelson Mandela, but his name has been splashed in every article relating to this reality show, like this one. Just google "reality shows in south africa" and you'll understand what I'm talking about. There are more articles about this reality show than there are R100 notes for Mr Kenny Sushi to throw around at parties.
Talk about the power in a name because we don't even know any of these ladies or what makes them relevant, but oh... they are international brands all thanks to the dang dang... Nelson Mandela association. Somebody please grab a phone and tell Nonhle to sit down and take notes about INTERNATIONAL BRANDS.
As much as we can criticise the poor ladies about how crude it is for them to use Tata's name to further their personal interest and blah! blah! blah! The truth of the matter is that they saw an opportunity and capitalised on it.
Can you blame them?
Look at all the publicity the Mzansi Magic comedy show "It's For Life" got. All because dang, dang... they were Jacob Zuma's daughters. Mr President even tweeted about it. He must have taken tips from Sbuuuda about the power of Twitter. BTW, who's watched that show? I haven't heard anyone talk about it since it was screened. Is it funny?
Back to "Keeping Up With The Mandelas"...

"The reality show will be about their lives as young, Black women and exposing the role of the new generation as career women and mothers."
Ah, ah, ah. So, all this hype for this? Where's the drama or something out of the ordinary?
Maybe it will be awesome & I shouldn't judge the show by this information before I see it, but South Africa needs to really stop giving us documentaries and calling them Reality Shows. Thank You kindly...
