When I got the invite for the SA Fashion Week, I was pretty excited... Until I read the rest of the email that required me to specify the shows I wanted to attend, then I was supposed to print, fill out the forms and fax them through. Oh... There's more. Just before the email ended it specified that even though you went through that process of faxing, you were not guaranteed access. Woooow... My diva tendencies sprung to the surface and I knew right there that this was not for me. I don't even work in an office, so where in the world would I get a fax or a scanner from. I'm not applying for a job you know and besides, it's 2012, the technology age. *hint* *hint*
Anywhoo... I looked at the next best thing which was the "very exclusive" SA Fashion Week Official Opening Party, somewhere in Kramerville. Don't fret, Kramerville is not somewhere in the bundus; in fact it's part of Sandton. As they say, to go is to see... (I breathed a sigh of relief when I saw that I simply had to RSVP via email.)
The event was indeed ëxclusive as only a few people turned up and that was the whole point, as I was told. It's not like I minded, because Dj Waxxy and the Crazy White Boys kept us on the dance floor the entire night. It was one of those functions where one spent it sweating off the winter weight as we danced the night away.
The party was intended to set the tone for the fashion that was to be expected from the SA Fashion Week. Well... I'll let you wonderful TVSA bloggers play Fashion Police and lemme me know how fashionable the stars were.
The first person I met on my way to the entrance was Mr Train Of Love himself, Donald. I digg the red blazer.
Selimathunzi's Lunga, looked rather simple.
The Crazy White Boy crew. I'll prefer to focus on their music. They are that awesome. Crazy White Boy made my night.
Vuzu's Dineo. I don't think this dress does any justice to her. It's so ordinary.
Top Billing Presenter search finalist, Zama and All Access presenter, Bridget dressed in black.
Uyanda has a serious gift of dressing well. She was uber dapper, pity she didn't seem her usual bubbly self though.
Former Live presenters Bonang and Luthando. I don't agree with their outfits. These ladies have such stunning bodies, designers can have a field day creating immaculate outfits for them.
Vuzu's Lala was there with her better half, Chris. They sure look like the "perfect" couple.
The vivacious Kgomotso from Isidingo. Not sure how I feel about her dress.
I actually didn't see Nhlanhla Nciza at the doo. I think her outfit has that "Van toeka af" Mafikizolo feel.
Then there was this "dress" worn by Pearl from Selimathunzi. As some guy described it "she's wearing a see-through cloth over a swimming costume." Lol. Ya, ne... Talk about OTT, but then again it's the SAFW, so being OTT is encouraged.
Thanks to Simphiwe and SAFW for an amazing event. Please do invite us again but minus the faxing. Lol
