Usually when awards are launched, only a few nominees aka celebrities attend but this year that was not the case when the Feather Awards launched on Wednesday night (26 September) at The Venue in Sandton.
Celebrities and some nominees alike were there. Also abo ordinary folks attended.
Celebrities came out to play and kisses were kisses just as hugs were hugs. Yazi shem, me being me, I always ask myself if these celebrities are putting up a front because we media people are at these functions with our cameras or if they're like that when they visit each other.
Minnie Dlamini who has been in the tabloids recently for all the wrong reasons was in attendance, rocking a Minnie number. I’m happy she's nominated in Best Styled Female category but my beef is the fact that it is the same category in which Bonang Matheba was nominated in last year and won.
Can’t people just see Minnie for who she is mara and stop placing her under Bonang’s shadow? But ke, Feathers are Feathers, they are controversial like that … and I wouldn’t be surprised if Minnie won. But it wasn’t the first time I saw Minnie wearing the dress she was wearing on the night. But I liked the fact that it was very short. Thank you for showing us your beautiful legs akere Minenhle.
Zenade Mafenya, who plays Generations’ forward and rigid Noluntu, rocked a mini pink number I liked very much. Her legs are beautiful; I wouldn’t mind eating chocolate ice cream from them.
Later on in the night, her on-screen brother MJ also arrived in short khakhis. In all honesty, I felt MJ was on his way from doing his car wash charity, that’s how he looked. Shame yazi ini nkosi yami, at least now I know my biceps are bigger than his.
Moving right along, Zikhona Sodlaka of the Montana fame was also there and she looked really beautiful. Thank you sis for taking an effort. Kodwa she and Zenade were all chatty even when we media people were taking pictures.
It’s like they knew they are all that and wanted us photographers to wait for their chit-chats before we could take pictures. Be that as it may, they are great people and a lovely bunch too.
Mrs Sibeko or Kgomotso Christopher as we know her arrived flanked by her husband. Her man is such a great guy and I could see that when media wanted pics of her alone and later them together, he had no issues. He even asked that I take a picture with them for his i-phone. And Kgomotso was only happy to oblige to the kind of shots I wanted.
Deflowered virgin Kelly Khumalo was in attendance together with her younger sister. The sisters rocked mini shorts and skirt respectively.
During the night, I couldn’t help myself by really take a picture featuring the back of their skirts and shorts. *hides*
Koyo and Amstel of 3some fame were also present. When I asked to snap them, Koyo was like, and you must use a great picture of us please. The two are such great people though.
Somgaga aka Somizi Mhlongo rocked up looking way too better compared to the last time I saw him. I could see he is getting back to his “normal” body size. I wonder if Pastor Mboro indeed did help him as per his declaration in the Sunday Sun last year.
Bujy, who was elevated into instant stardom after his Dance Your Butt Off stint, and now regularly features on MTN ads, was also there busy doing what skeem saam Tazteeq calls Posing 101. The YFM Bujy is always happy and doesn’t want any stress. Yes, I attended with Tazteeq, it has been a while since he and I attended an event together.
Sultry actress, singer and choreographer Khabonina Qhubeka rocked a mini red number and I told her she looked dangerously beautiful and she just gave me a seductive smile. I think this woman was made for me, in all honesty, phela she and I make a great match bandla.
Lerato Sengadi of Big Brother fame, who was also part of Vuzu’s 10/10 judging panel, was also there. Tazteeq is a great fan of hers and she posed for us.
FHM model and Soweto TV personality Lerato Kganyago wore a mini yellow number which worked really well but those yellow gloves of hers are a definite NO NO for any given event.
Tall Ass Mo and Mome of Mome Cartel fame were in attendance. I have issues with Tall Ass’s hairstyle, his dress sense. When it comes to his wife Mome, her hair is cool but her make-up and dress sense is just not on. In all fairness, I am convinced the duo should be checked in at Weskoppies in Pretoria West as a matter of urgency.
MTV Base VJ top 3 finalist Nomuzi Mabena was in attendance with some friend of hers. The two mobbed me and pleaded I take a picture of them and I gladly obliged. Who wouldn’t give in to demand of such a bald beauty?
Publicist extra-ordinaire who is famous not about his job but just famous because he is famous, Linda Moeketsi rocked up. I know Linda is obsessed with gym and all. However, can he please stop with weight loss already and now build some chest and biceps like Somizi is doing. Maybe he needs to ask for tips from Somgaga asseblief tog!
Thank you Feathers and I am looking forward to the award ceremony. Just a side note, it aint fair that drunkards are allowed free booze and us non-drinkers are told to pay up for a can of coca-cola, I’m just saying nje, that’s all!
