Bonang Matheba has landed a role on SABC 3’s Top Billing programme after the channel refused to allow Basetsana Kumalo the go ahead to cast her last year. However, the channel has now come back to its senses and has given Bonang her Top Billing Dream after SABC 1 snubbed her.

She was supposed to host The Link but was shown the middle finger a few days before the show’s premiere on SABC 1 – that after the channel learnt through the media that she will now be presenting Clash of the Choirs on Mzansi Magic. Days after SABC 1 gave Bonang the boot, Bonang was announced as the Co-host of Channel O Music Video Awards 2012. My sources tell me SABC 1 bosses did sh&t in their pants upon hearing the news.

As we all know, another man’s loss is another win and in this case, SABC 1’s loss is SABC 3 and Mzansi Magic’s win. Though we do acknowledge SABC 1 gave Bonang her big break, we are of the opinion that you cannot own someone, after all, it is her who works hard to make a name for herself.
Top Billing website is now updated and shows that Bonang is now a part of their presenters. The has also been a confirm on Twitter about the news. This week’s episode of Top Milling featured Bonang and I actually wondered why they didn’t just give her a slot on their show. They say be careful of what you wish and this time around, we are glad we were not careful with our wishes.
Week 46: 12 - 18 November viewership figures show that Top Billing has a total of 751 000 viewers. I am betting my bottom dollar that three months down the line, the show will at least hit a 1 million mark in viewership figures and I predict that by this time next year, the show will be the channel’s most watched show, you watch the space.
Basetsana is only excited about Bonang’s addition Top Billing: “Bonang represents true South African talent with her unique brand essence that captivates audiences.
