Coming up on Carte Blanche this Sunday (16 March 2014):

Medical Marijuana

The world is slowly moving towards decriminalising cannabis, with several countries, including parts of the US, having given it the go-ahead for medicinal purposes. How far behind is South Africa?

Not too far, with a Bill recently introduced in Parliament. Carte Blanche speaks to cancer, MS and other sufferers who extol the medical benefits of marijuana.

Producer: Bernadette Maguire
Presenter: Derek Watts
Journalist: Sasha Schwendenwein

Powerless

Fed up consumers have had it with Eskom, City Power and their local municipalities, with the electricity situation continuing to stutter along erratically this past week. Carte Blanche finds out if we can really blame the rain.

Producer: Bernadette Maguire
Journalist: Wynand Grobler

Ukraine

On Sunday a defining referendum is being held to determine the future of Ukraine, a fertile global bread basket and home to a strategic Black Sea port. Now Ukrainians find themselves having to choose between Russia and Europe. Carte Blanche reports from Crimea, where President Putin is flexing Russia’s military muscle.

Producer: Paula Slier

Al Gore

He was America’s 45th Vice-President and is now a poster boy for climate change, having received a Nobel Peace Prize for his work. This week Al Gore’s in town to tell Africa how it’s done and to tell Carte Blanche a few inconvenient truths.
Producer: Diana Lucas
Presenter: Derek Watts
Journalist: Chwayitisa Futshane

Carte Blanche is on M-Net on Sundays at 19h00.
