The best way to clean a flat screen TV

I spent over a year agonising over the impossible dilemma of how to clean a flat screen TV.

I tried dusting with a dry cloth, then wiping with a wet cloth, then fixing the mess with a lint-free cloth and a million other variations but none of them worked. Everything I tried left a nasty smudge that attacked my need for clarity no matter what I did.

Then, suddenly, I found an effortless solution that changed my world so I thought I'd share it with you in case you've been through the same hell.

*Cue razzmatazz music* ... this magic stuff ...

Clean TV 1

I've got a Samsung TV so in my desperation I popped into a Samsung shop, pleaded for help and they whipped out this gel. I can't work out if it's made by an aerial company or by a different company called Aerial King or what but it's the bomb.

I've got a 32-inch TV and used three squirts in one corner of the TV and three in another and wiped it - not long. The result's so clear I can even look at it sideways when it's off and the black screen doesn't have even a flicker of smudge or haze.

It's R199 per bottle - pricey I thought but very worth it. It also comes with the lint-free cloth and that duster thing in the photo that you can retract in and out of the holder for fun. If you're in need of a solution I'd highly recommend it.

@Muhle10 I got it at a Samsung shop but I'm thinking any TV/lectronic type shop should have it.

@Sana Lwam it's 200ml - I used it about two weeks ago and the screen's still sparkly so I'm thinking one would need it about twice a month. Not sure how ml's divide but I reckon it's gonna last a long time based on what I've used so far, a year maybe.

PS: Something they don't say in the instructions on the packaging but that the salesperson told me in the store is that one should use it when they screen's off and cool. I don't know how applicable it is because you'd think they'd have it on the packaging but I still did it.

mmmmm thanks Tash, I'm going to pop in to Dion Wired and see if they have it - the smudges on my screen (& laptop) has been driving me certifiably crazy forever.

Just in case - where is the ''samsung shop"

You're a life saver.

@rainbowjnb - pleja! Yes, it'll be perfect for your laptop too.

I got it at the Samsung shop at Canal Walk in Cape Town - I see there's one at Clearwater in Jozi. Here's a link to their storefinder: Samsung stores.

Can you believe the bottle's still going strong. The same bottle that I bought when I wrote the story! It really is the most amazing stuff.
