Idols Top 8 final

After the shocking loss of Nosipho Mngomezulu in Tuesday night’s Idols Top 9 Results Show the Top 8 remaining competitors are hard at work rehearsing for their Top 8 Spectacular, which will be recorded at the Home Of Idols, the Mosaïek Teatro in Fairlands, Johannesburg, tonight, 17 August.

The Top 8’s musical theme this week is “The Year I Was Born” and Monde Msutwana, who was born in 1982, is going with that year’s big hit, Toto’s “Rosanna”.

For Chloe Kiley the big hit from her birth year, 1988, was INXS’s “Never Tear Us Apart”.

Simphiwe Gwegwe is also a 1988 baby and he chose Michael Jackson’s “Man In The Mirror”.

For Dominic Neill 1992 was all about Mr Big’s “To Be With You” and Melissa Allison chose The Bangles’ “Eternal Flame” from her birth year, 1989.

Khaya Mthethwa was born in 1986 and fortunately for him that was also the year that Earth Wind And Fire re-released their classic hit, “September”!

Sheki Donnell chose TLC’s “Waterfall” from 1994 and for Tshidi Tenyane 1983 was all about The Weather Girls’ megahit, “It’s Raining Men”.

This week the Idols are being mentored by J-Something from this year’s big SAMA winners, MiCasa.

The Idols Season 8 Top 8 Spectacular airs on M-Net and M-Net HD and Mzansi Magic on Sunday, 19 August, at 17:30.

Simphiwe, Tshidi and Melissa are my favourites now. Dominic must make a fast exit and next up should be Shekinah her voice is unique and nice in a little irritating kinda way. Khaya must be in the Top 5 then leave.

Tshidi & Simphiwe were not that good this week, Monde was the best for the night. I think Dominic or Chloe is leaving this week, they have been the weakest links

@Cande...I agree with you that they were not that good this week. I hope that this will not put them in danger.

I see white teenagers voting for Dominic and kepeing him in the show till the end. I hope I'm wrong though
