Each episode follows a team of detectives as they piece together the clues left behind by the offender, in hope of bringing justice to the victims and their families.

Photographs and videos from the actual investigations are featured, along with intimate interviews with the victims’ families and detectives. From the senseless killing of nine-year-old Cyndi Allinger, to the strangulation of octogenarian Charles Taylor and the mysterious murder of Renee Powell, each compelling case is insightfully unravelled and the final surprising outcome revealed.

Fatal Encounters
From Tuesday 17 July at 21:00

Fatal Encounters Large 1

Compelling new series Fatal Encounters recounts the ill-fated relationship between killer and victim as their paths intertwine. Chance meetings, everyday decisions and random acts of violence send ordinary people on a deadly collision course.

Each episode introduces victim and killer as they go about their normal business, unaware of what will transpire. As an on-screen clock counts down the victim’s final hours, days or even years, viewers track the decisions and actions that bring the victim closer to their killer’s fatal trap.

Not until the last moment does it become clear who will fall prey and who will have blood on their hands.

From the teenage partygoer who became the target of a gang initiation after falling in with the wrong crowd on a night out, to the chance meeting that forced a pregnant woman to fight for her life and thatof her unborn child, the series explores the forces, both psychological and environmental, that contributed to a senseless loss of life.

Australian Families of Crime
From Wednesday 25 July at 21:00

Australian Families

This hard-hitting investigative series exposes life inside some of Australia’s most notorious criminal families. Through personal interviews with family members, associates, victims and investigators, each episode explores how the nation's worst criminals have spun their terrifying webs of violence and corruption.

Examples include the case of one-eyed crime matriarch Kath Pettingill, whose ten children either went to early graves, prison or witness protection. Also featured is Abe ‘Mr Sin’ Saffron, who ruled his family with an iron fist. Involved in illicit alcohol sales, dealing in stolen goods, illegal gambling, prostitution, drug dealing, bribery, extortion and murder, Saffron even had his son committed to a psychiatric hospital and denied him access to his own children.

A fast-paced combination of archival vision and gripping re-enactments, this powerful series exposes the fetid and amoral world of this ruthless band of thieves, drug dealers and killers.
