Keitta's one of those guys who prefer hanging out with girls and talk about fashion and celebs than chill with the boys and discuss sports. I bet most of his closest friends are girls, hence Prezzo's and Roki's failure to rope him into their fold to form an alliance against the girls.

Confession: I am obsessed with hair & more weaves.I change weaves almost every week. I am a person who believes that the beauty of a woman is on her hair. When I meet a person the first thing that I look at is her hairstyle. I spend more money in salons than anywhere else.

Last week Ichanged my hairstyle twice. I dont like this obsession but I cant let go. I think I need help. my husband hate weaves with passion. He doesnt even compliment me anymore

@Minnie211 ...My own opinion (I'll let others speak for themselves), because when you cut deeper, you'll notice weirdville appears dull on the outside, but their, issues, relationships, quirks, feuds, and drama actually have more substance ergo they're more interesting and captivating. They also appear more adult (stress on 'appear'). Whoreville, on the other hand, maybe noisier, but that's just on the surface because if you try to dig deeper, you can't ... because there's no depth and THEY are the borites. They seem like a bunch of schoolkids thrown together and most of their so-called drama is so high school (who likes who? Who said what about who? OMG, so and so is so cute). Meanwhile, for example, Goldie's good wife act, has so much of Africa disturbed on political, social and personal levels because she's allegedly an independent, liberated woman in her real life. Their issues hit more close to home.

What Milly did last week by not appearing on stage, I am familiar with. Sometimes I dont attend important functions/ gatherings because my hair is not done or my hair this & my hair that!!

@Minnie211 ... did you read yesterday's thread? Apparently quite a few people were affected by that disturbing Chris Rock documentary shown yesterday (Inferior Goods Mampi should've been in it). Maybe you could copy some of those posts here and continue the discussion.

Now I know the root of my obsession, thinking I am not beautiful without weaves. I need to accept & love who I am. No weave can make me look beautiful even if I feel beautiful with weaves sometimes. (complex problem)

Okay I'm taking the weave off, what will I do with my hair?? Oh the hairline is gone & my hair is fluffy from all the strong relaxers. Must I shave it all off?? OH no!! no chizkop please.
Okay my hair grow back & what then?? Be natural like Lira, No cant do that , I will look like my younger brother or I will like Tracy chapman. OHH no!! cant dzeal with that.

@Minnie, i have never worn a weave in my life, and when i get my hair braided, it is more for practical reasons, but that doesn't last long at all. it itches and i don't like the feel of hair on touching my skin. you are not the only one with issues, mine are just on the other side of the continuum. i thought perhaps i'm not the normal one, seeing all the ladies going crazy about weaves.
take it slow, don't go cold turkey, you might just cancel appointments....lol.

@Zinnia, You are the lucky one, u are better off without weaves or fake hair. See me now, I used to stand infront of the mirror & thank the person who invented weaves & gave me a chance to look beautiful by hiding my big forehand. Thats not a normal beahviour at all. it shows that I dont like how I look.

@nightschoolteacher, that documetary disturbed e to my core. The worst was seeing that chinese man and black woman refuse to buy black her because "it is no good", I think the black lady even said it is desease infested. Nothing makes me sadder than us blacks hating ourself let alone natural aspects of ourselves.

@Zinnia I'm like you ke, never had a weave, and I just have never been enticed. I hate braids and plating coz of the itching, the painfull hair pulling, I just hate discomfort. So ever since I was little I kept my hair short, brush short. 6 years ago I started relaxing and growing my hair, I just hated the straigtening process, it just offended me somehow...now I'm back to my short hair. Good hair to me is, combed natural hair that isn't painfull in anyway whatsoever. @Minnie, ...for the sake of your scalp's health, maybe brave yourself and cut your hair off all, the only way is to start from scratch and let nature have full control. Otherwise, before you are 50 you will have no hair at all, how will you feel then. You'd have to learn how to love yourself then.

I just cannot see how I can perv on such a kid. @Minnie, shem if you realy don't feel happy bout your obsession anymore, just brave yourself, start from scratch, shave. If you are spooked by being bald, research how people with aloepecia and cancer hair loss cope, atleast with you it will be temporary. And Wear a wig then.

@G.Arrow & Minnie, it has a lot to do with self esteem, and dominant social perceptions of beauty (the dominant cultural hegemony, is that of Western ideologies). Be brave @Minnie and give yourself a fresh start, cut your hair off, it will grow back within a week. I have gone bald (not totally off, just leaving a carpet of hair) myself, and you will be surprised how people receive you. I have been stopped by men complimenting me. you just have to show confidence (even if you might at first not feel it), and work it girl.
I have natural hair, and was thinking of relaxing it until discussions in this forum ensued, i have decided against it and will leave it natural and curly.
We should not be sucked into other people's 'normal' (i.e. white america, black america), cause there isn't one normal/normative way. i say rather lets normalise the particular. so, what is particular to you (and your context etc) is normal, big-forhead and all, so called nappy hair and all, chocolate complexion etc.

Hi Uhdikts. My ass is bloody freezing. Bloody load shedding. I just prayed for electricity and then thought of the poor and the homeless who have no alternative. I'm praying for them. @nst, I feel u. Whoreville is just empty. I go there but 5 minutes is more than enough and I leave with nothing. Weirdville is where life is. Real issues. @minnie, I cried yesterday when I watched chris rock's doc. I'm one for natural hair. Had chiskop from varsity and work life till I got married. Then had the Lira look for the past 4 yrs and just yesterday put braids as I want to grow my hair. I tried lace weave which cost me 4 grand bu lasted 5 hrs. I looked in the mirror with that lace weave and I burst into tears. You've been hypnotised into seeing beauty through a white man's eyes and ofcourse the Kaf*ir mentality plays a big part. Its sad but can be reversed. Try short S-curl, u'll love yourself and will be liberated.

@G.Arrow, ja, when you think about keitta in that light, it's hard not to reprimand yourself for perving, hehe.

Re: Good Hair, i was ignorant to that fact that white women also use extentions and the like. It's also sad how that in Africa, or at least from what i have observed in my country, Namibia and in South Africa, ten years ago, there weren't weaves on every second woman's head. For the most part we were braiding, relaxing and rocking natural hair (especiall short cuts). But we have caught the American idea of beauty hook-line-and-sinker, now even the poorest of the poor adorn plastic cheap weaves and hide their lovely natural hair. We as a continent will still be studk on weaves when the rest of the world go back to 'natural', watch it will happen (think about 'organic' food, that has always been anafrican concept. agh, then again we are talking about power relations here).that's my two cents piece.

@Zinnia, so true. I've even started with the more traditional health supplements instead of the western medicine. I believe in african potato, aloe vera, barley grass and the likes. Natural is the way for me.@GA, keita is yummie. I'm not even ashamed to admit. Appreciating black beauty.barbz shld just forget abt the age and that she's on tv and give us some thing to talk about. That's the reason she's there anyway NOT the couch.

minnie. Since you have alopecia just cut your hair and start from scratch. Wear wigs if you know you won't be comfortable with the low cut at first..........but with time confidence would come. For the hairline you could use raw indian hemp (marijuana) or raw aloe vera

Hello everybody (in Redi's voice) @Zinnia I saw Good Hair last year just after it was released. Our Sociology class was given an assignment to look at it - from the sociological point of view...the findings all lead back to the history black people's socialisation and how we have always viewed straight and long hair as a symbol of superiority as white represented superiority etc j I was shocked by the source of this weave, that it is real human being's hair, I thought it was manufactured using certain 'products/material....more shocked by the Indian church goers who believe they are donating their hair to God whereas it is sold to us!!! yeeerrr I've done it all, I enjoy my short hair. Most people look good in short hair, (try it Zinnia). I've also done all kinds of weaves. I have a brazillian weave on now similar to Eve's. I'm really not bothered by the weave vs natural hair argument, I'm comfortable in all of them (but I think I look prettier in natural hair)

Now this obsession about Barbz age is puzzling to me...what is wrong with being 34? should all 34 year old's bury themselves somewhere and feel sorry for themselves for being that old? she looks good for that matter better than most younger than her.. I like Americans, age is really nothing but a number. Susan Boyle won America's Got Talent at what? 40 or late 30s?. They have reality shows that cater for all ages, remember Leroy Belle from X Factor? They had a show that was targeting women over 30 to 50 who looked good and wanted a career in modelling, I tell you those women would give any 20 something year old a run for their money, they looked amazing.... I also like how white people look at this age thing, they do everything and anything they dream or want to accomplish at any age. They enter competitions, challenge and re-invest themselves until they become geriatrics But black people they are quick to judge you by age, its like it's a curse to grow old....

The Loony one just made an entrance at the dinner table. They called her to come eat a lot of times, she comes when they are almost done. She is literally dripping in oil... She dishes up for herself...says a silent prayer and then out loud says AMEN! Everybody looks at her with a confused/rolling their eyes look...LOL

Giggles has been eating in silence while everybody is chatting and interacting. She didn't finish her food, burps out loud, says sorry and then stands up and tells them she will finish her food later! The silence from all idziots, including DickP, was sooooo loud... LOL
