Following on from the enormous success of the multi BAFTA, Emmy Award winning debut series, the BBC will continue its commitment to bringing the best of British to its international audiences, with the eagerly anticipated return of Downton Abbey to BBC Entertainment on the 8th July.
Season 2 will see Oscar-winning writer Julian Fellowes once again take the Golden Globe winning drama to new heights, promising yet more captivating plot line twists of deception, intrigue and of course love and scandal.
The season will also see the return of Season one favourites, including Maggie Smith (Harry Potter, Hook), Hugh Bonneville (Notting Hill, Twenty Twelve) and Elizabeth McGovern (Once Upon A Time in America), audiences can also expect to see a range of new faces and characters joining the all-star cast including; Iain Glen as Sir Richard Carlisle, Zoe Boyle as Miss Lavinia Swire, Cal Macaninch the new valet, and Amy Nuttal, as the new housemaid.
