It's been four years since it first debuted on M-Net and now it's about to make a comeback.

Culture Shock will be returning in the new year, with a headline spot on Mzansi Magic. It'll be back for an 18-episode season and the search is on for families to star in it.

The format

The series is a locally created reality format that follows contrasting families as they swap lives - in the same way wives swap lives in the series Wife Swap.

Two members of each family move in with each other and live life exactly as their new families do.

During the first two days, the visiting family members must adhere to exactly the same rules and lifestyle of the host family and the rules laid out by the member they are replacing. The departing members of the family leave a house manual, which explains his or her role in the family and the duties they hold.

During the second half of the show, the visiting family is allowed to establish their own rules and their new families must adhere to these new household rules.

How to apply

The series is looking for families that include a mom, dad and minimum of two children - or any two adults with a minimum of two children who live as a family unit.

If your fam has what it takes to do the switcheroo you can apply to be on an episode by entering online here: Culture Shock online entry form.

Alternatively you can download the entry form and either e-mail or fax it: Culture Shock entry form.

You can e-mail it to: culture.shock@mnet.co.za or fax it to 086 521 3321.

Entries on close on Friday, 27 January 2012.

Ja I feel you too - one wonders how many actually exist that have the setup they're requesting - like would they even find 36 families?

I don't think they're meaning it to be exclusive - reckon they're thinking it puts everyone on an even playing field when it comes to the swap but as you say, it's very limiting. They should do a couple of episodes with single parent families and another with gay parents etc and so on.

Stand to be corrected, but it also say"or any two adults with a minimum of two children who live as a family unit" , which means in my opinion (Me, Mom & my two younger brothers) not necessarily mom & dad. I just filled in the form on line and it went through.

Hey Agree - tooo true - I overlooked that completely - just saw mom and dad and then not the rest - it can be any two adults.

Cool that you've entered - good luck!
