The Aftermath: Pirates vs Chiefs....End of Part 1

Some say it was an exciting match, I was far from impressed. Exciting matches produce goals galore and that derby was fraught with mistakes, errant passes and missed opportunities. Don’t get me wrong, the match wasn’t boring at all…..it was fluid but it seemed as if the lads lacked ideas when in front of goals.

It was clear from the first whistle that Pirates were going to try and close down Chiefs as they played their defensive game. Pirates had the possession but never used it, Chiefs on the other hand got more opportunities in front of goals but could not utilise them especially in the first half.

The second half was much more exciting though….Pirates' Isaac Chansa scored from the corner kick within the first 2 minutes of the second-half, Where the hell was Chiefs’ defence? It became evident to me that when one player in the defensive positions is playing badly (like crap) the whole defensive line collapses.

I am sure the Rats expected that they would cruise to a very easy victory; but this, my fellow bloggers, wasn’t the case.

Sense of Knowledge

Despite that lacklustre defending Chiefs did not stop attacking and their tenacity finally paid off when the most exciting player in the PSL at the moment scored. Some might say Moeneeb should have saved that ball but he had no chance (that goal had class written all over it). Composure in front of the goal post is what was needed as we saw with Musona’s goal…..that was pure class. It is the simplicity, yet hard to imitate with which that goal was scored that makes it wonderful to see.

The Speedster

Tlou

Then came Tlou Segolela who juked or lost players simply by turning on a dime. He made it difficult for Chiefs defenders to defend against him, he had speed and guile. I don’t understand why the Pirates coach started him on the bench. He must be careful with his running; otherwise he will run himself out of the field next time....just joking

Teko....boooed

How the mighty have fallen….beginning of last year he was the toast of the Rats as he scooped awards left, right and centre. But on Saturday night he was booed and the fans celebrated like a goal was scored when he departed the field of play. Yes his performance was uninspiring but he did not deserve what was meted out on him by those silly fans. You should be ashamed of yourselves Peerats supporters.

My advice to Tekoloshi….sometimes the best way to shut someone up is to stick your foot right where it doesn’t belong. And in this case that place is the back of the net.
Fair results though I feel Chiefs should have wrapped up the game after scoring their first goal. It will be interesting to see how the 2nd leg will unfold on the 26th of September.

I wasn't keen on writing this article, but makisto insisted

hayi Teko has been so out of it Makisto, i feel no shame for him, he must look for other alternatives now. Soccer legends are scarce in SA they dont last that long, Teko is a socaialite lately, he gets invited in parties his name spalshed in gossips sites and mags , if it were me i will grab the nearest saftest job, unfrotunately i am no pirates fan i dont care what happens to their players, so Teko is just minus one trouble for my team Chiefs.

Chiefs fans in Tswane can celebrate

They are like that everywhere.

In the name of all that is peaceful and co-operative I so wish that pirates can win the second leg.
