Teaser ...

The South African media landscape has been occupied with questions about the Media Appeals Tribunal and the criticism that it's a direct attack on media freedom.

Special Assignment brings the media and the ANC together around a table to tackle the matter.

Debating are: City Press editor Ferial Haffajee, media ethics scholar Franz Kruger and African National Congress’s spokesperson Jackson Mthembu.

Special Assignment is on SABC3 on Tuesday at 20h31.

well, Makisto I watched it and I was horrified that someone came with an idea of doind this kind of a show over dinner? what were they thinking the setup was nasty to say the least!

Camera angles were all wrong cuts were all in wrong places, had people walking infront of camera's and blocking shots....

no continuity, one minute the dude is eating his meal and a few minutes later the poor waiter serves him the same plate he had earlier?? WTF

the content was poor, Jackson Mthembu was not strong enough to back the ANC's views on the media tribunal and the person that made sense to me was Ferial Haffajee the rest of the show was boring and awful to watch!

all in all bad television killed what was likely to be a good show!

i agree...the editing was poor...and it made me feel as if there are some points that were made by the speakers which we never got to hear. One person would ask a question and while u waiting for an answer, the whole rhythm would change and u r on to a new topic. it was such an anticlimax for me seeing as i was eagerly waiting for it.

The whole thing just flew over my head. Entire 30 minutes and i heard nothing new, sounded almost like Redi's round table maabane, exept there was few people on the "panel' (or dinner table..whatever).
I cant wait for such a time where decisions will be made.
I am glad though that there is a debate, ANC came to the debating table for a change. Jackson Mthembu keeps emphasising on that fact as if its not something the country is entitled to in all matters any ways....I hope that other stakeholders' opinions are not falling on deaf ears.
