Revealed: The Popstars Judges

The first round of Popstars auditions kick off in Durban next week (on 21 August) for the start of four weeks of auditions that end in Pretoria in September.

Today (11 August) e.tv announced the judging panel who'll be making-or-breaking hopefuls as they battle it out for a spot in the winning pop group.

They are: radio and TV personality - and Popstars judge Azania Ndoro, who judged the 2004 season of the SABC series.

Joining her are musician, producer and Bala brother Zwai; and musician and blonde PJ Powers.

Each of them have just filmed a clip offering advice and their opinions. Here's what they have to say:

heh... sometimes I wonder what criteria is used to appoint the judges.... coz I saw Gugu Zuma will be a judge on the Shine thingie on 1Gospel.. Im like hayikengoku....

i remember i went to audition in 2004 and Azania told me i did not have a talent for singing i must stick to something i am goo at..tsho!!! from that day i despised her....

now i am older and wiser and i am def going to Maponya mall for another audition...i know i am not the best mara will give it a short i have nothing to loose

I am scared of that blonde!....why this made me laugh so quick without a thot...tl tl....Why??..i think she is friendly.....you should be more scared of Zwai, he is quite an alround expert that one!..and he dont like di vaivai,so stay away from those....

All the best to those who are going to audition.......Zwai can be nasty at times. I went to the last 2 auditions and it's fun when you are standing in those long qeueus with people trying to outshine each other.

indeed I 4 one stopped watching Gospel Gold religiously because of the confused guy(Zwai).One minute he is doing kwaito and the next ke gospel and this and that ag.Etv might have considered the experience in popstars.....I think they should have selected new people because most of the groups Zwai and Azania have chosen in previous popstars didn't last except JAMALI.101,Adilah and Ghetto Lingo are down the drain. But hopefully this time around they will produce an everlasting popstars

but surely there are plenty of talented schlebs in the music industry why do they keep recylicling same faces..smh

hau guys...mina ngiya mthanda u Zwai....
I understand the recycling same faces bit...thats how i feel about this new music show in e on fridays, havent watched it yet, dont plan to.
But Zwai is a well rounded music expert isnt he?....and i dont see it as a problem bcos idols and all this other talent shows they do the same, bring back same "judges".
Must add i also stopped watching gospel gold because of him. But i think for pop stars he is the right guy.

Zwai is an excellent choice, he will be a good judge as he knows music in and out. he iritates teh ehck out of me in that Gospel Gold, he is trying too much ,chill bro!!
I dont like Azania as a judge she gets to be too emotional and cries when dealing with manipulative contestants, who will tell the world of their backgrounds but cant sing nxa, last time she traumatised me.

PJ powers- hayi this woman has just risen up from the dead, suddenly she sings with HHP now she gets a job as a judge , heheh talk about friends in high places.

We need unkown faces ppl, who are behind the scenes of music not these plastered shclebs. as for the etv club 88, whatever it is how on earth is brining old mama Renaka going to attract the youth?

My take :

ZWAI BALA- cannot sing bathong, just because you went to Drakensburg Boys does not qualify you as the greatest singer, i truly think the Bala Bros cant sing, Zwai yena o worse. Loyiso, shoud be carefull soon he'll be needing surgery for his vocal cords, he js kills them when he tries to hit a high note.

AZA- I love you mara do you really think you can judge????

PJ- mmmhhh a ke tsebe nkareng.

Why didn't ETv pick people like......one of the girls from Jamali, or Thandiswa Mazai or...mmmhhhh..some top producer to do this.

Better yet they should have had open auditions for di "celebrity" on a competition called "So you think you can judge?" and take it from there maan.......

@ Sputla2shuz ay ...cnat sya but go there and take a chance they say "AGE IS JUST A NUMBER" I think if you do have a voice they will consider you anywer all the best..

an ZWAI being a jugde then im a winner.... c u @ Maponyaaaa mall
