While on her way to her sister’s wedding, June Havens (Cameron Diaz) finds herself in a puzzling situation when her life collides with Roy Miller (Tom Cruise) at the Kansas airport. As she is physically attracted to Roy, her life is completely turned upside down when he keeps leaving her drugged and a stream of dead people around whenever he shows up.
He seems intent on “protecting” her from federal agents ANYWHERE in the world. But what are they looking for? Why her? Why is she drawn to him? Why does Roy leave a trail of dead people wherever he goes in his quest to protect her? Who is trying to kill her?
So June finds herself on a adrenaline filled journey all over the world with a man that seems to attract danger and is swearing that he is protecting her. The chemistry between the stars is evident and their hot bodies do give moments to oogle, but there was just something missing. A certain spark in the story – just something!
For months I waited impatiently as the trailer for this Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz movie seemed like the IT movie for this year. *ssmh* What a let-down! I am so so so so so so disappointed, it’s unbelievable. Even my companion to the premiere dozed off half-way through the action filled flik.
Don’t raise your expectations at watching a fabulous story with 2 of Hollywood’s greats – just go watch the movie for the scenery of the different locations the film was shot at. It was filmed in 5 different countries in different locations in New York, Boston, the tropical Caribbean, Austria, Spain and The Alps. Nothing else for me raised the excitement. From the first 5 minutes of the movie – you cannot shake the feeling that you are being ripped off. It falls in the same category as The Bounty Hunter.
This is another case of a really bad script happening to great actors; combined with a not so good storyline, and the over-dramatising of some of the scenes. I will give it a 1 out of 5… broken down like this 0.25 for the actors and the chemistry (you could tell they were having fun), 0.25 for the action (there’s a lot of blowing up and shooting scenes), 0.25 for some of the conny lines (yep, the lines are delivered well and some are funny) and 0.25 for the scenery (the different locations are just stunning). A long action packed comedy with no substance, a complete let-down!
The movie starts showing at Nu-Metro theaters on the 23 July 2010
