Italy Versus Paraguay: Row 5 Pics

Pics from the action between Italy and Paraguay on Monday (14 June):

The Cape Town stadium outside, flippin' freeeezing. It must have been at least minus-10 degrees.

Singing the national anthem, which I didn't need earplugs for. I took plugs with 'cos of all the "you'll never hear again" blah blah, but didn't need them. I forgot that I had them they were so unecessary. The sound in the stadium with the Vuvuzela's wasn't ear-numbing at all - have no clue why everyone's getting so outraged about them.

Media-photographers lined up on the field for the perfect shot. You could see they all felt very squashed and wanted to smack each other out of the way. There was a very aggro moment between the two at the end, closest to us.

The "I was there and got the T-shirt" pic. A friend once told me that you must never just take scenic shots of an adventure 'cos then no-one will believe you. Please excuse the mismatched jacket - didn't have anything else warm enough that matched.

The first row of seats right round the stadium were empty - as if they were reserved. Wasn't able to work out why and no-one else knew.

My fave police-peep of the evening: she didn't watch a moment of the game - she watched the crowd throughout and looked more and more amused as the night went on - trying not to show it. I didn't know that the stadium security was on strike - I thought it was the Way things are supposed to be that the police were in charge. They did a cool team-circle-rah outside the stadium before things kicked off and said "enjoy the game" when they took tickets and searches at the gates.
