At the start of April SABC1's LIVE launched a nationwide talent search for new presenters for the upcoming 10th season of the show.

Over 8000 entries were received online by the closing date, 30 April.

Between then and now, judges from the channel and show have been sifting through the entries and have selected 100 finalists from each of the eligible regions: Gauteng, Durban, Cape Town and PE.

All of the finalists have been notified via SMS and this weekend the next phase begins. The judges will be visiting each of the regions to audition the finalists in the flesh, at the SABC offices in each area.

Their task: to choose the best four contenders out of everyone, who'll make their debut on LIVE in two weeks time: on Friday, 28 May (at 21h00).

Each of them will get their own slot on the show. The show will be divided into four parts and each  with do their thang alongside current presenters T'bo Touch and Bonang Matheba.

Thereafter voting lines will open for viewers to choose the best. The channel is still very hush-hush about how many presenters will land a gig but reading between the lines of everything that we've heard: the search is edging towards only one, guy or gal.

! An update: the auditions went down round the country at the weekend. Judges from the show and channel visited each area and saw 100 auditionees from each region on Saturday (15th).

They narrowed them down to approximately 30 semi-finalists who returned to audition again on Sunday. Word from the Cape Town auditions is that 10 hopefuls have been finalised from the region and a similar number have been chosen in the other areas.

This Tuesday (18 May) the judges begin the process of eliminating everyone down to finalise the Top 4.

Also, 100% confirmed: there will definitely be only one winner a.k.a. there's no possibility that more than one will land a gig.
