e.tv is looking to hire two News Anchor/Researchers to work on the morning news on Sunrise.
Both job descriptions are same: one is for a Tswana speaker and the other for someone fluent in Afrikaans:
Afrikaans News Anchor/ResearcherReporting to the Executive Producer: Sunrise your key performance areas will include:
Translating stories from English to Afrikaans
- Arranging and preparing for interviews
- Briefing cameraman and interviewee on topic beforehand
- Checking archives for specific identified news items
- Checking electronic media (wires), articles of interest in newspapers and study International media
- Conducting preliminary telephonic and follow-up on interviews
- Directing editor to cut pictures according to storyline
- Identifying stories through research and networking
- Screening functions, events for possible newsworthy items
Requirements:
- At least 3 years broadcasting experience
- Be fluent in Afrikaans and have strong command of the language
- Good general knowledge, thorough understanding of South African politics and players involved
- Working knowledge of quality of visuals and scripts
- A developed culture of reading and news sense
- Ability to develop story ideas
- A team player and ability to work with others
- Work to strict deadlines and display initiative
- Willingness to work early morning shifts and flexible hours
