I Like It Deep Sometimes ...

Dear Lulu

Please take uGogo to Home Affairs to apply for an ID so that she can receive her pension/grant. Even Zimele suggested you do when you first met (only good thing to come out of that affair). Ok? Great stuff.

Your fan
Moagisi

Last night’s episode took us deeper into the human psyche the overarching story line (“a tangled web of double lives, deception, sexual exploration and intrigue in an environment darkened by the threat of HIV/Aids”) and the individual actors’ journey. There were tears shed, expected truths revealed, and unexpected drunken behaviour.

Zimele finally plucked up enough courage to face his demons and get an HIV test and wise words from Sol. Allow me to just step into Sol’s life for a second, or the lack there of. Who does he go home to? I don’t know much about the previous seasons but in this one I think his demigod status seems more celebrated than anything else. But love him all the same, with all that’s going on he is a blessing (excuse pun).

After finding out the obvious he tells Lebo who tells that he should tell his lover so that she can get tested too. Young feminist Mihlali is still feeling miserable about the fact that she is keeping what she knows of her dad’s shenanigans from her mom.

Amid the misery was a party, then more misery, then shock and ultimately horror. Everyone was at the party, except for Bulela. Now that reality has come to Zimele’s nest to lay eggs, roost, watch them hatch and bring misery to match, he aggressively denied Bulela’s request to attend the party he had been invited to by Dineo. Lulu and Zakes (or Golden Delicious as I tend to call him) are together at the party when Zimele bells Lulu asking to see her about a very important matter.

The Misery

Unfortunately Golden Delicious over hears Lulu saying Zimele’s name as she was talking to him on the phone, so when she comes back to him and says that she needs to rush home because uGogo is sick, he knows she is lying. But obviously he doesn’t know the whole story so he takes it as Lulu having lied about ending her affair with Zimele. With a bruised ego and heavy heart, Zakes leaves the party to drown himself in a bottle at home.

The Shock

In the meantime dinner is on Zimele at a semi-fancy restaurant where he tells Lulu Belle over some candles (I thought that was odd too) that he is HIV +. He advises her that both her and Zakes must get tested. What started off as Lulu thinking Zimele was trying to get her back ends in her frightened and crying at the thought of her having the virus and the fact that she may have passed it on to Golden Delicious Zakes. I sat wishing that Zakes will be the one in Lulu’s love triangle who doesn’t get infected. As for Zimele, I wondered if he could afford more revelation dinners by candlelight, what with his history of love polygons.

And the Horror

A ‘stood up’ Dineo runs after a heart broken Zakes and the result of that was just unbelievable. She finds Zakes drowning his sunken ego (shame he really was hurt), and he suggests they toast to them both being losers in love. And they do. Once too many times perhaps and the episode ends with them in Zakes’ bed! (Gasp).

How it went ‘down’

First it was the drinking, then Dineo getting sudden stomach cramps (a hint at a possible pregnancy?), then Zakes taking her to his room to lie down, followed by her spilling her sober-me-up coffee on her skirt (luckily they didn’t do that thing where Zakes offers to wash it for her quickly in the machine. Oh wait, this is not Hollywood).

A bit of chit chat, a compliment about her eyes from Zakes and touch down! His lips landed firmly on hers, and so does the rest of his body. But whether they go as far as the deed itself, we’ll have to wait until next Monday to find out (dot dot dot).

That scene where  Dineo was kissing  Zakes was sooooo scary for me!!
All I could think of was the fact that Zimele is HIV positive and he slept with Lulu without protection, Lulu slept with Zakes without peotection (am asuming because she said her and Zakes could be positive), Zakes is   now possibly sleeping with Dineo, who is possibly gonna sleep with  Bulela??

Anyway, I thought Zimele pulled the crying scene perfectly...

Golden delicious.... Hmmm perfect nickname. The thought of all those kids busy getting in infected just pains me. When Dineo went after Zakes i just knew it was going to end badly.

He he... for a second I thought this was a mdavazo blog.......
Well it is in a way, I was so sad too for Dineo thinking of her bright future that will be destroyed before it even begins. When Zakes was offering her a drink I was screeming noooo dont drink that because alchohol always impares judgement.

Hai no! I know soul city is all about HIV awareness, but come on, NO ONE uses a condom in that story, you could swear this is all happeing before the discovery of condoms and HIV....hai suka, it's becoming too unreal for me. Or maybe I just live in a world it's the condom way or the high way, so all this is a bit far fetched for me.

Oh Cande this is what you meant when you said that there is another person who does recaps.

Moving right along, it was a good episode and I am disappointed with Dineo. After all the miss goody goody act she drinks alcohol and "ushaye her best with facebrick" she will live to regret it and I get the feeling she is pregnant.

Him and Bulele are not going anywhere as I foresee him finding out about what Dineo and Zakes did and then failing his matric which means no scholarship, Dineo on the other side will not be going anywhere with a big tummy.

These kids, I mean someone must have a brain and smart enough to say no to alcohol and sex and bona they just do it!!

But maybe Dineo will come to her senses and all she have in her conscience will be a kiss with her best friend's man

i think the reason they showed the scenes is to show how easy HIV can spread.... if it happens that Bulela sleeps with his gal and get infected who infected him?? obvious his father... i just and pray that he finds out about his girlfriend before they even sleep together again

These kids, I mean someone must have a brain and smart enough to say no to alcohol and sex and bona they just do it!! Thats what happening in this generation Nice. No matter how much u warn them, they always curious kuba they want to know. No matter u show them the results or u say  HATA u gonna get burnt bathi, une jelous coz u r old & badla ubusha babo. Its sad sana.

SC is showing how careless can some1 b & that  negligence can cost ur precious living. Think carefully be4 u do any stupid little mistake.

What im thinking rite now is, Dineo is gonna get pregnant & she will neva know who the father is co she slept with 2 men without a proctection. And if she slept with Zakes, there's a possibility of Aids & maybe she will sleep again with Bulela.

Now the whole family has it except Bulele's sista. DAMN I hate this!

Life sucks!

Soul City is so real it's not funny. People don't use condoms out there and it's really shocking. That's why the virus is spreading so much.

Thanks for the recap couldn't watch the episode.

<<What was the motive behind the headline vele??>> ungasho ubuze futhi Tshd21 - hey it caught my attention.

Guys dont get excited or sad, when the episode ended Zakes and Dineo were in their clothes. For all you know, they'll stop before it gets deeper or someone will mention a condom. Lets not already see the whole cast of Soul City dying now :-)

I was watching this episode with my nephew, he's in grade 11 and I told him if he's going to be sleeping with girls he better make sure he uses a condom. I must say this episode showed us how easy it is to contract HIV and how alcohol also contriubutes. Check Dineo and Zakes, a few glasses down they forgot about condoms ( do they even know that they have to use it?) Scary stuff

I like the concept and how soul city is actually putting it out there bare and naked.Exactly how this virus gets from one person in the family to another. It would be sad though if Bulela gets the HIV that ultimately started because of his dad. OMG actually that is mighty scarry
