TSHO, All hail to Suffocate, he is the man! And that humbling acceptance speech!

Ok, my views:

Best actress: Sonia Sedibe? WTF, they are saying Sonia is better that Nthati Moshesh? I'm sorry, although we see things differently, I'm sure that's one thing we can all agree on, Nthati was robbed!

Trevor is a wonderful host, he should do these award shows more often, it's a pity the show was too long though. They should have atleast put the the Soap and Drama categories at the end, because that was what ppl were there for. The film awards at the end were not worth staying up for.

Orlando: What can I say? Does this guy think he's a big actor on Isidingo? Number 1, he had clear beef with Generations for not showing up, which was none of his business, but made for good TV. And then he appoints himself spokesperson of the show after they win...lol! Like really now!

Terry and Leleti: Eish, something was making me cringe when those two were presenting their awards...eish, some things are better left unsaid.

TREVOR NOAH ROCKS!!!!! I think he was the best thing at the awards. Personally I think the South African Film & TV Awards should be renamed the SABC Film & TV Awards- it is really felt like SABC was the only broadcaster represented. Thumbs to Generations for boycotting the event- I think South Africans should stand up and demand the Awards represent every South African- I know the money comes from the government through the NFVF but we are all tax payers and we deserve better.

We all know that Nthathi is the best but it depends who gets a lot of votes, buy your family and friend airtime to do the voting for you. I am sure Isidee cast did the same for their soaps.

I think the generations cast were told not attend, we must blame them, don't involve  them in management kwals.

JuneRose
09 Feb 2009 10:28

4 nominating Sonia Mbele i think they were just pleasing Mfundi Mvundla bcoz in his statement/s he was complaining about SAFTAS 4 not recognising his actors/actress.

Guyz don't you think we should watch The World Unseen who never watch it before to check does it really deserve the awards from head to toe.

For that boy (the little one) from Chesa taking that award i was expecting the one from Rhythm City (eeh Bra Safo).

blueroze
09 Feb 2009 10:33

They should have atleast put the the Soap and Drama categories at the end, because that was what ppl were there for. >>>>>>>>i slept after the best soap award, it is only now that i realise the show was far from over....they must restructure the line up. kante what happened to save te best for last. i thought since we were voting, those categories we at the end of the program.

09 Feb 2009 10:42

@ cool one
Ya they were told not to attend this awards. Mr. Mfundla himself In a letter addressed to his staff, Vundla reportedly requested that they do not attend the awards function “to avoid creating the impression that Generations in any way supports Safta ... ”
Vundla also criticised the judging process for “not being transparent"

Isidingo - Best Soapie thats terrible.

09 Feb 2009 10:45

I was also not happy about the 'length' of the awards and I feel some of the categories were unnecessary. She bathong Orlando,it felt so weird to hear him blabbering so much and at the after party he thought he was hotter than boiling water.Guys u shud've seen how Suffocate's girlfriend was squeezing his hand while the nominees were on screen (just before Suffo was announced as the winner)and I think she was praying.Suffo then said to her 'Khawume wena bo,uzo fainta hawu' (sp). And when brother man was announced as the winner, sistaz jumped from her chair b4 brothaz and gave the loudest scream.shame talk about having support for your partner, shweet!

Ntathi Moshesh may be the best actress, but in Scandal, she is not creating fireworks. I feel like she is trying too hard to be heartless! And yeah she is not convincing, she is not as natural as she was in Home Affairs. Sonia is relaxed, she seems authentic, and she is just natural! She definitely deserved the award!

Public vote : Isidingo Best soapie! True, Isidingo does not have ridiculous storylines, there is some serious thought for each and every storyline, even though they may not attract gazillions of viewers!

guys...ISIDINGO ROCKS, im telling you if ISIDINGO was on the same slot as Generations you were gonna see how terrible generations is, Isidingo is professional all the way, the acting, directing, scripts all the best SA can offer, the plot is not  stupid, straightforward and boring, you get to feel the charecters, the mood and its nail biting with twists all the way...those who dont support its well deserved awards are ignorent and rigid!  i've stopped entertaining generations long time ago, ka noko ya bo Ntsiki and Archie...at least the plot was good then, not the chop and change of charecters like we see now.

SABC delay bursts soapie’s bubble

THE actors from Isidingo are facing an uncertain future after talk that the popular soapie will be canned due to contractual problems with the SABC.

On Monday, all actors were told to stay at home until further notice.

City Press can reveal that Endemol SA, which produces the daily SABC3 soapie, halted production on Monday after the SABC failed to sign a new contract.

It is understood that the two parties are quarrelling over finances. Endemol is insisting that the SABC should pump more money into the production of the award-winning soapie. Now Isidingo stars such as Hlubi Mboya, Meshack Mavuso, Keketso Semoko, Lesego Motsepe and Sthandiwe Kgoroge are sitting at home.

A source said: “Everyone is scared because no one knows what is going on. People were taken by surprise when we were told to stop coming to work until further notice. No explanation was given.”

Endemol chief executive Harrie Linders confirmed that he had stopped production after the three-year contract with the SABC lapsed last week.

He said the SABC had still not signed the new contract although they had started negotiations about nine months ago.

“I have no contract on my desk signed by the SABC. I don’t understand why they’re taking so long when they were warned in time,” he said.

Linders dismissed talk that the delay had to do with money. He said it had more to do with SABC bureaucracy.

SABC spokesperson Kaizer Kganyago admitted that it had delayed signing the new contract.

“There are no conflicts between the SABC and Endemol. The process to renew the contract started, but it went beyond the date when the existing contract ended,” he said.

He said the SABC was confident this would not affect viewers as Endemol had shot advance episodes. He could not say when the SABC would sign the contract.

ii also do blv that nthathi frm scandal shld hv won, david genaro best villan as well and stone best actor, yho!1 its hard was his doin that boy

ISIDINGO is one of the best Soapies. The stories are relevant. They handle HIV issue with the respect and informed way it deserves. I think people just need to watch for few weeks and they will enjoy it. The actors and actresses are talented. If it could air at 20H00 it would bit Generations hands down. It was unproffessional of the Generations crew not to attand the awards. All the more reason we should stop watching. Their story line is lame anyways.

Trevor was on fire. Micheal Mol was chaffed. He killed me with the Bollywood stuff. He was on point.
