Khanyi Mbau and Kuli Roberts not darlings enough for DRUM!!

I need a detailed letter from Esmare` Weideman, the DRUM magazine editor, explaining how a very unknown Thabo Mdluli made it as a 2008 DRUM darling when Khanyi Mbau and Kuli Roberts didnt!!? Please Esmare`, be quick, I'm waiting!

............. OK, perhaps I'm being a bit of a drama queen here, but do understand that as a fan, I'm disappointed! I understand that the DRUM darlings are selected in a very fair process that involves the general public voting for their favourite schlebs! But it comes as a huge shock that South Africa's entertainment vixens are just not good enough to make it as DRUM darlings!

Khanyi Mbau, who made it on the list in 2006 and 2007, kept us entertained with her over-the-top behaviour throughout 2008! Admitedly she did tone things down when she decided to trade her party life to play mom. But has this caused her to fall over the radar and loose her strong hold over the public!? We'd hate to think that people are like, SO over her!!

Kuli Roberts on the other hand has never made it as a DRUM darling in its four years of existence! This year though, her profile sky-rocketed when she started presenting Real Goboza. And her Sunday World 'Bitchy's Brew' Column became even more controversial, delivering taboo topics in true Kuli style and attracting more haters!

So why did these two Celebs not make it as DRUM darlings??

Evidently they are not liked by South Africans all that much!!... And they know it too! They have started producing and selling their 'I hate Khanyi' and 'I hate Kuli' T's on Facebook!! They are challenging all haters to put their money where their mouth is!!

atleast these honey's are smart enough to spot an opportunity where most wouldnt!!

This year's Drum ratings are really a disappointment. Forget Kuli and Khanyi, what about the fact that Jabu Hlongwane is the most loved SA celebrity at no:2, after Christiano Ronaldo?
Or the fact that Barack Obama is at number 40-something, way below Jub Jub, Bad Boy T and a whole lot of other so-called Darlings?

What about Paul and Ngamla, who were way below Brickz, (okay, I won't even go to Zola, because obviously he's some form of demi-god, otherwise he wouldn't be in the Top five after all his infidelity)?

I don't have Drum before me now, but I know I was disappointed this year? Pity am in Swaziland, i'd probably have voted for my favourite celebs.

<<<explaining how a very unknown Thabo Mdluli made it as a 2008 DRUM>>>
Very unknown? I don't think that's true.
Thabo is very well known in Gospel circles......I've known him since the inception of Joyous Celebration coz he was there since Joyous 1. I paid him lots more attention when he sang  "Siliwelile iJordane" on Joyous 3 or 4,  and I think he was also with Family Factory back in the day.
He's currently hosting two shows on ONE GOSPEL on DSTV, he has a CD out and does a lot of live perfomances so I'd say he's pretty much known...plus lots of South Africans watched I Want To Sing Gospel!

Are you kidding me? LOL joke indeed!

@BS, I can recall a few names: Connie Masilo (though i don't remember seeing Shona), Deborah Fraser (and oh, Kholeka is somewhere in the top 20), Arthur Mafokate (who was asked is he knew his HIV status and he said something like 'I have an idea but I am not sure'), KB, Judith Sephuma, Teko Modise, Zola, Chris Brown, Rihanna, Unathi (at number 90-something if I recall correctly while Bad Boy T is in the Top 20-30)....okay, am still racking my brain, i'll probably recall more.

It's funny how half the Darlings claimed they wore nothing to bed. I could imagine some of them....mmmm, Judith, KB, etc.

And oh, Hlengiwe Mhlaba is somewhere in the top....she surprised me by saying the thing she likes best in a man are his EYES. Imagine, I thought she didn't want to get married, but eyes, that's really intimate.

And Arthur said he'd like a wedding ring as a birthday present.

More Darlings, Benjamin Dube, Howza (aka Adam, and his wife Salamina was nowhere), Doctor Khumalo (yeah, he kept bragging about his wife, said his best moment was his wedding, i think he was hiding something there), Ntando was relegated to somewhere in the least loved schlebs....ok, enough now, I won't remember all 100 darlings, i've tried my best BS, really I have.

<<<<Doctor Khumalo (yeah, he kept bragging about his wife, said his best moment was his wedding, i think he was hiding something there>>>>
LMAO Snonoza!!!!!!!

<<<Howza (aka Adam, and his wife Salamina was nowhere>>
<<<Unathi (at number 90-something if I recall correctly while Bad Boy T is in the Top 20-30)>>>>

Clearly there were more female voters than male......

Gospel stars are loved neh? Pity we don't love the messages in their songs like we love them.....

Thank you for the lowdown Sno! I love your lil'comments in between...too cute!!!

@mjj......am from Swaziland dear, otherwise if i was from SA, i'd have voted for deserving schlebs. Pity am a late blogga, so i normally miss out on all the action.

And oh, i've just remembered some of the other so-called darlings....Kelly Khumalo, Benjamin Dube, Leleti Khumalo,Bongani Fassie, DJ Sbu, HHP and Pabi Moloi....

The top 10: Christiano Ronaldo, Jabu Hlongane, Connie Masilo, Zola, Bonang (ha, and Slikour didn't make it, mmm), Meshack Mavuso aka Javas (can you believe it, the guy celebrates with whisky), Chris Brown, Bubu Mazibuko, DJ Fresh (who said something about his best memory being a girl who dumped him about 13 times a year) and Oprah.

@ Foxxy....does this mean they interview all the darlings?
Of course, darling.
