Concert alert! The Road To MTV's Africa Music Awards

With four weeks to go until the MTV Africa Music Awards (MAMAs), MTV's kick-starting the celebrations with The Road To MAMAs - a four-concert tour to the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), South Africa, Kenya and Nigeria in the run-up to the Awards.

Spotlighting nominated African and international artists, all four concerts are being fronted by Best Hip Hop nominee and US rapper, The Game.

The concerts are scheduled to take place in the two weeks prior to the Awards: starting on Tuesday, 11 November at the Halle de la Gombe in Kinshasa, DRC, before hitting Johannesburg’s Standard Bank Arena (Thursday 13 November).

The third concert's happening at Bomas of Kenya, Nairobi on Saturday 15 November and the tour ends in Nigeria - at Lagos’ Planet One on Tuesday 18 November.

Nairobi, Kenya:
2FACE (Nigeria) - Best Male nominee
East African Bashment Crew (Uganda) - Best Group nominee
Jua Cali (Kenya) - Best Male nominee
Wahu (Kenya) - Best Female and Best New Act nominee

Lagos, Nigeria:
9ice (Nigeria) - Best Hip Hop, Best New Act nominee
D’Banj & Mo Hits All Stars (Nigeria) - Best Male, Artist of the Year and Best Live nominee
Naeto C (Nigeria) - Best New Act nominee
Samini (Ghana) - Best Live Performer nominee

Tickets for the concerts went on sale in South Africa on Wednesday (22 October).  Tickets will also be available on the door at each of the venues and at the following outlets:

DRC
Available from La Halle de La Gombe. On sale between 5-11 November.

South Africa
Available at Computicket, Shoprite and Standard Bank Arena. On sale between 22 October - 13 November.

Kenya
Available at Bomas of Kenya. On sale between 10-15 November.

Nigeria
Available at Planet One. On sale between 10-18 November.

Prices:

US$25 (DRC), R150/180 (South Africa), 1500 KSH (Kenya) and 5000 Naira (Nigeria).

The winners of the Awards will be unveiled at The Velodrome, Abuja, on Saturday, 22 November 2008 and as from 29 November the event will be broadcast on MTV base (DStv Channel 322, GTV Channel 40), as well as on these channels: RTGA (Democratic Republic of the Congo), TV3 (Ghana), NTV (Kenya), AIT (Nigeria), STV (Nigeria), TBC (Tanzania) and WBS (Uganda).

Voting closes on Tuesday 18 November 2008.
