Letti's tragic end

THURSDAY will see the tragic end to a decade of Lesego Motsepe's character Letti Matabane. Buzz looks at the ups and downs of this Isidingo character.
Ten years ago, Letti Matabane arrived on The Deep with her mother, Ma Agnes, and brother Parsons to join her father Zeb, who worked as a miner. She attended a model C school and, along with Parsons, befriended Dusty, Steve and Stuart. The friends formed a band and performed at Bra G's shebeen, which incensed Zeb to the point that he beat Letti. Her rebellious phase continued; she fell in love and lost her virginity to Sammy, a miner. That romance didn't last, though, and Letti, after completing her schooling, started interning as a journalist at The Golden Weekly. During this time, she started to date Vusi, but jeopardised the relationship by succumbing to the charms of playboy Dumisane. While preparing for her wedding to Vusi, Letti learned that she was pregnant - with Dumisane's child. She ended up marrying Dumisane, who was offered a BEE position by Barker Haines at ON! TV.Dumisane, Letti and Neo move in with the Haineses and Letti landed a news anchor position with the TV station. However, Dumisane's ambitions got the better of him and he made the grave mistake of going against Barker. Dumisane made a run for it and went abroad.Letti decided against leaving with him, especially after learning of his extra-marital affair with Bianca, and they divorced. She had a brief fling with Lucky, a floor manager at ON!TV,

before embarking on an interracial relationship with Joe.When that romance ended, Letti, confused and depressed, started to steal. She was caught, but Bra Fox, who fancied her, intimidated the store owner into dropping the charge.Extremely grateful for his intervention, Letti unwittingly encouraged the notorious gangster and was almost raped, but Vusi arrived just in time.Since then Letti and Vusi have been blissfully married and the Matabane family, after a financial crisis, moved in with them. The couple had plans to start over in New York where Letti had a new job, but she found the incriminating SMS from Siyanda to Vusi. It isn't easy to leave behind a character you've played for a decade. And Isidingo's Lesego Motsepe struggled to deal with the heavy blow after learning of the tragic end of her character. In an interview with the Tonight, she said: "I still feel that there is a lot more I could have done to represent women of Letti's age, those who had had a child out of wedlock, those who went through a divorce and moved on. I am not bitter. I had to accept that exit and that's that."How will fans say goodbye to Letti? It starts with Letti reading an SMS from Siyanda to Vusi, which tells Vusi that she realises a baby is out of the question and it's a pity it never happened when they were together. After an argument with Vusi, Letti leaves in her car.Paul, who is on an urgent errand for Maggie, crashes into Letti's car on a blind rise while she is arguing with Vusi on the phone. She then veers off the road.

The only thing that happened is: Siyanda asked Vusi to impregnant her and leave if he wants to, but Vuse refused, saying he is a family man and he cant do that to hhis family.

I feel so sorry for Siyanda, she represents what I don't want to become - a successful career woman, with no one to share my success with, how frustruating.
Thanks BA. I guess I can watch today ke.

You can say that again rene.... nami i dont want to be a Siyanda, but I dont want to be a Letti either.. neither do i want to be a Farrow or a Nandipha...

But i suppose we cant all be MaAgnes, hey... growing old with your hubby... able to overcome everything that comes your way...

@Carino .... that was mouthful, i guess there is no life for ladies in Isidingo .... you forgot to mention Thandi ..i wouldnt want to live her life neither MaAgnes with such a stubborn husband oh no.

but i guess Siyanda's is the worst life ever she has never tested a happy life unlike all others they do have memories

That's the thing with us Ladies , we want the perfect life but we always end up being another Nandipha,Thandi etc...

If I had a choice... I would be a Ma-Agnes. She has a big family and has a husband who listens to her( even tho he is stubborn) and she has got stern values and principles and raised wonderful kids and as Carino said able to overcome everything that comes her way...

This is so sad, why couldn't the writers think of something else like Neo misses his biological father and Lettie putting her child's needs first has no choice but to go back to Dumisani and leave Vusi, I can't handle another death.

dont rush it maybe Vusi is going to get hooked up with Siyanda after all and she wont end up alone.

Shame i thought she had decided to leave at her own accord

Well, Jada, I watched last night, and she hasn't died yet, all we saw was her talking to Vusi(shouting rather) on the phone, while standing in the the middle of the road(clever Lettie!), and Paul rushing(but withing speed limit) presumably towards her.

Last nights episode was just too sad, whilst Ma’Agnes was attending a church service nogal.

Siyanda deserves to have the three hairs she has left in her head pulled out with a butter knife. No woman can be that desperate.
