Swingtown
Premiere date: Wednesday 27 August at 23h00

swingtown_large

Swingtown is a drama series that peeks into the shag-carpeted suburban homes of the 1970s to find couples revelling in the sexual and social revolution that introduced open marriages, women's liberation and challenged conventional wisdom.

During this era of provocative change, Susan and Bruce Miller move their family into an affluent Chicago suburb in search of a different sense of community. They’re after a taste of true suburbia - barbecues and get-togethers with their new neighbours, as well as a change of pace for their teenage daughter and pre-teen son.

Enter Tom and Trina Decker, a striking, outgoing couple who redefine the term "neighbourhood watch." After a mind-blowing evening with them, Susan and Bruce realize that couples in this town share much more than recipes, local gossip and a view of Lake Michigan and are worlds apart from their former conservative neighbours, Janet and Roger Thompson.

Susan's loyal friend Janet is appalled by what she witnesses in the new neighbourhood, while Roger, though dutiful to his wife, may be more intrigued than she knows. Initially stunned themselves, the Millers are tempted by the possibility that this alternative lifestyle might add the zing they've been looking for in their own marriage.

Swingtown's pilot episode is directed by Alan Poul - a director on HBO's Rome, Six Feet Under and Big Love. It's written by Mike Kelley - producer of Jericho.

NEW SEASONS

Notes from the Underbelly 2
Premiere date: Saturday 2 August at 21h00

Notes from the Underbelly returns for it's second season. An ensemble comedy, the story centres around Andrew and Lauren who are expecting their first baby.

The show chronicles the challenges they face as they get closer to their baby's arrival. In Season 1 the first challenge was lying to everyone about being pregnant for the first three months until it was safe to tell people.

In the first Season 2 episode:

Realizing he may be a pushover, Andrew forces himself to be more assertive. It proves to be a big turn-on for Lauren, until he embraces his opinions to the point where the delicate balance of their relationship is threatened. Eric and Julie hire a nanny who refuses to divulge the secret swaddling technique that instantly calms Baby Perry. Meanwhile, Danny and Cooper find themselves "accidentally dating" when he starts cooking for her in return for legal aid.
