I have been listening to the Phat Joe breakfast show lately, mainly because of the “two strangers an a wedding” competition. This is a competition where 2 contestants who have not met get married at a wedding organised by Kaya fm. I don’t catch it everyday, so please give more information if you have been listening.
The idea behind this is that there is a bachelor and 5 bachelloretes. The contestants had to send their applications through to Kaya fm, attaching their photos. The judges then chose 1 bachelor and 5 bachelloretes .
The bachelor’s name is Peter (35yrs), lives in Centurion and he’s a private pilot. He has 2 kids. He has a Masters degree in science. His reason for entering is that he works too much to meet his perfect match.
The bachellorets are:
1. Ingrid 33 yrs,
Her profile says: I love cooking, entertaining and travelling. I love to laugh. Love music and dancing. Love old school music e.g. black box fantasy I am tired of clubs, prefer chilling at indoors or much relaxed place with friends. I am crazy about dresses....
2. Loretta 32yrs
Her profile says: Fun, Loving person, expressing oneself by laughter, ever smiling, ever helping other people in need. Love dancing and exercising, I can dance as if no one is watching, love any type of music as long there`s a beat....
3. Maggie (not her real name) 29 yrs
Her profile says: I do not belong to any particular religion `because all religions have elements of truth in them. I identify with most religions therefore I prefer to refer to myself as simply religious.
4. Thandi 27 yrs
Her profile says: I have a zest for life, with a passion for good music, good friends, good food and my family. I have a great sense of humour, as well as the need to explore new places and meet new people. I also enjoy my job; give it all that I have got because I would like to succeed in anything I put my mind to.
5. Miriam,36 yrs is a divorcee
He profile says: I am down to earth, honest, individual who enjoys a very quite but exciting life with family and friends. I enjoy travelling; I work very hard and play hard too.
The only contact Peter has had with the ladies is via email telephone. Last week the ladies had to take lie detector tests. They’ve had the mothers and friends in the studio to come talk about each of the ladies, we also eavesdropped on the conversations Peter has had with each of them. Maggie has already nicknamed Peter ‘boo’ and Loretta has had both male and female lovers.
The prize: A complete wedding (organised by Sophie Ndaba), with outfits, rings, reception, honeymoon to the value of R500k.
Today I was listening again, and apparently Peter was supposed to propose. In fact he was scheduled to propose yesterday but he got cold feet. So now he’s been given 48 hrs to make his decision as to whom his bride will be. The ladies were not impressed with his indecision, cause they feel that its been a long time coming, he knew that ultimately he’s have to choose one of them and now he’s acting like a man who cant make up his mind.
What do you guys think of this, would marry a stranger? Are things that bad, that people have to enter competitions in order to get married?
