If i knew then, what i know now...

So i'm on holiday and i'm thinking about my life. The 1st 6 months on 2008 were not that great, but I am determined to make sure the latter part is better. So i'm thinking of things I could have done differently in my life in general. Not from a point of regret a 'lesson's learnt' angle.

If I knew then what I know now, I would definitely:

- not have compromised on my 'no sex before marriage' philosophy
- would have gone for my 1st choice of career and not just look for the quickest way out of school.
- not wasted my time with guys who had girlfriends thinking they would leave them for me.
- not procrastinate. What do they say about procrastination again?
- ask for what I want in a relationship and not second guess myself when I feel its time to leave
- been more daring and stop being so risk averse.

If you had a do over, what would you do differently or what lessons have you learnt that you'll pass on to your children?

Me too!!

I am still thinkin about the most important lesson i want my child to learn besides the no sex before marriage philosophy. Will be back later with my response/reflections.

if i knew then what i know now:

i would have been reckless with my youth and enjoyed life with wild abandon in my teens.
i would have worn a lot of mini-skirts and shorts
i would have studied journalism and not hr

The lesson part still evades me...back later LOL

Ok,I 'm back.

- I would have been more confident in high school
- Would have thought hard about what to study after school
- Would have not wasted my time on some guys
- Would have asked more questions where necessary, instead of just accepting
- Would have been more assertive in many a situation

But some of these things make us who we are today. Retrospect is wonderful, but honestly, while there are things I regret, I really thing I wouldn't be who I am without those mistakes.

As for the lessons:

- Ask when you don't understand, you'll only be an idiot for that one moment, as opposed to being one for the rest of you life
- Never ever compromise your hapiness, you will never be able to please the world.
- Value yourself, you are the only you, and no one can be a better you.
- Respect your parents.

I'm sure there's more, will update as they come to me.

What's done is done, so I don't even wanna think what I could've or should've done, I can't turn back the hands of time and I have made peace with it.

Completely agree with you on these two:
- not have compromised on my 'no sex before marriage' philosophy
- would have gone for my 1st choice of career and not just look for the quickest way out of school.

I would have really thought and decided on what i want for a career.
I would have got rid of some people in my life a long time ago.
I would have looked around for cheaper insurance.

I will teach my child that:

YOU must always come first.
Happiness is the most important thing.
