I believe every name has a meaning and behind every name there is a motive. Have been looking specifically in the site and find that some screen names are fascinating, some are obvious and some are just plain hilarious. The curiosity has been killing me and I decided to finally ask from the bloggers, why did they use the names they used to identify themselves.
So here is what i would like to know from you bloggers :

I think I kinda understand Cnglemother and Beyonce

I can’t list everybody’s screen name here but I would definitely like to know what inspired them to identify themselves with their names.

How did you come up your username / what made you identify yourself with your screen name?
Was your name inspired by a philosophy, a private meaning, an historical figure, a humorous idea, mythology, literature, history, a person/role model, your work, your family, or some other idea?

Mine, Best-Achiever comes a long way
.. Back in primary school while i was doing grade 5, we had Science and Mathematics competition in our district, each and every school was to send their top 3 from grade 5, 6 and 7 to complete with other schoolers in our district, so one day i was amongst the group of students who were chosen to write ... we went there and wrote, we were about 50 in mathematica competition, and they only choose Top ten and give them trophy (which goes to the school) and bursary(for school fees, uniform books and pocket money) for the following year. Well i passed and was among the Top Ten, so i got a trophy and bursary(it was Friday when we went there), on Monday on Assembly, or principal called u and said we are proud to anounce our Best Achievers who went there and represented us and made us proud, from there our teachers ad schoolers started calling us Best Achievers, that name followed us until today, we were 6 and we still call each other Best achievers even our teachers call us that.

Nice one BA, my first username was becoz I know I wanted to always remain unknown and I knew I would never want to upload my picture and edit my details, so i chose Annonymous and also when I registered the usernames I wanted to pick were already taken. Do ur'll now that I actually wanted to register as "Ghettofabulous"???, Then as time went by bloggers would abbreviate my name to Nonny, so I chose Nonny. That's it no special reason behind my username!!!!

what inspired them to identify themselves with their names? My nickname. My late grandma called me that. and I just love it. She used to cooo-coo cutie baby talk with me teasing with the name.

How did you come up your username / what made you identify yourself with your screen name? I have always been called by my dads family by the name so it is very special.

My late grandma who loved me to bits. even after my parents divorced she insisted I visit her every holiday. just before she died she told me what she wants for her funeral. So in honour of her, I use the name everywhere!

With me of my real names were already used here @TVSA and so when I registrered, I thought of my little sister, I took her to McDonalds for the first time when I was 18 and bought her a happy meal, so it came out with this Winnie the Pooh toy, it was a Blue pot with honey and she asked me what it was and I said " Ibhodwe lo ju" meaning it's a honey pot. So I just thought of that !!!!

hehehe...eish it's stupid really. When i had my baby, i was always on the lookout for toxic substances in her diet, toys, her environment, soap, whatever she'd be in contact with and it was the 1st thing that came to mind when i registered.

Nope-nothing other than what i described above. I do occassionally get intoxicated (title of the first blog i created on tvsa) though :)

I actually use this username for a lot of things. But the first 3 letters of my real name are Ren, and one day i saw my brothers top from foschini kids, and the label was Renegade. Around that time, there was a song out - "I'm a renegade", and so like that, i just took it on.

Nah, for me, it was just seeing a label that I liked, a song, and the familiarity to my real name.

I never write passwords down, I memorize them and I also never use cliche ones like Birthdays and 2010 and common stuff like dat. I also log out of everything I enter as soons as I leave the site, so that no1 can automatically blog or chat with my username.

No wonderful story about it,... But here goes: We always have children hanging around at our organization and usually I am not able to remember their names - bad with names and I made up nicknames for all of them.
I am very fond of this one girl, she is always wearing her white schools socks with her school shoes,.. she is beautiful and has this awesome personality,... but for the life of me I can't pronounce her name... so I started calling her WhiteSockGirl. When I had to choose my on screen name, I chose WSG simply because it would be easy to remember.

Believe it or not, my one is just the opposite of who I can ever be. Having grown up in the rural areas of the EC, the pretty monotonous life that I lead (and content with) is far from being that of a streetwise clever ka Ngqesta. I suppose I have always found this kind interesting........or perhaps I aspire to be one I don't know.

I opened this account for a friend called Pogisho,who we all call Lepogo,meek he is but a name such as his is hard to shorten and add a nice ring and bells to it,so we agreed on Lepogo.

Im told is a Pedi word for a leopard,remember Mapogo a Mathamaga???

Therefore Im here solely by mistake.....Given a chance I would give me a name like blackcat or coolcat or badcat or bobcat....you do get the drift by now....

My gay cousin (whom I live with) has a high pitched tone & likes to sing (nge vay vay vibration ye chorus leaders)...when I hooked up with my boyfriend, he would wake up singing "leeenyaaaaaaaalllooooooo llllllleeeee" in that high pitched vay vay E-VE-RY MO-RNI-NG....

When I told him, I wanted to register for TVSA using the name Precious...he sang (he sings for everything you see...and no one can accuse him of being Brian McKnight shem)....HALALA PRESHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII...Well really the three"i"'s were inspired by an irritating gay high pitched vay-vay...*sigh*....wanna swap houses (with housemates) Nons???

On the contrary,I hate animals,except when they are well done and spicy,but cats,hmmmm,must admit cool and sly animals,always minding their business and care for nothing but themselves.

I just cant understand why would anyone have one as a pet-they cant fetch a newspaper,or fetch your slippers,or just fetch anything,cant bark at robbers,wont lick your tired ass or wag its tail when they see you from work-hell if you lucky it might purr-and thats it-bloody pussies......

Hi guys. I found this article interesting cos everytime I read your replies I would try and picture what you look like through your names. The one person I kinda have a face to their screen name ke SPONONO. I get this face of a chubby-looking, bubbly and friendly guy. Bo Elvovo so.

Anyway why VENUSSEED?
I use this screen name most of the time. Initially I used Hotone4real and then I thought nah it's too obvious. My name was inspired by GREEK MYTHOLOGY. I once saw a movie about VENUS THE GODDESS OF LOVE AND PASSION(I was 12) I was inspired by the fact that she was a Goddess of LOVE,SEX and PASSION. Then I called myself MOTHER OF VENUS in 2003. Meaning I was above VENUS since I gave birth to her. Until last year I felt like nah...VENUS was the SEX GODDESS not her mum and I wont call myself VENUS(common). So I decided on VENUSSEED.

One borne out of passionate lovemaking.
One borne to spread love,passion, caring and humility.
One who's mother was a result of her mother's anger towards her father URANUS.

I actually wrote a poem about me as VENUSSEED. Well this name kinda discribes me. Passionate, loving,kind and damn SEXY. I love sex as in the whole reasoning and responsibilty behind it. Hence I'm still waiting for my PRINCE who's gonna plant a seed that will blossom into a GODDESS. I have the babyname already. It's also from Greek Mythology.

Wow that was too long. First time I had to explain my username.

Chitty. Hmm..., there was this one guy in my neighbourhood and he used to really be interested. See, my real name's last four alphabets are."..bang" so everytime we met, he would go "Chitty-chitty bang." And it would come with that silly twisted boyish smile. I thought it sounded so sexy, but we never dated coz he kept this unkempt afro that made run for dear life. But the "chitty-chitty bang" stuck with me. I still smile when see him, and inwardle whisper "chitty-chitty bang!" So yah, thats how "chitty" came to be.
