Forgive and Forget: How do you feel?

Before you wonder if I'm going mad, lemme explain what this is about-no, it's not a recap.

Have been watching this season of Forgive and Forget hosted by the beautiful
Doris Msibi.
doris
I would have changed my name if I had been named Doris!!

Anyway this is what last night' episode was about-if you really wanna know.

Susan from Pretoria, has lost a lot in her life because of her abuse of alcohol. She lost her home, her dignity, and about 20 years ago, her daughter Darleen left home, never to be seen again. Susan is now 69 years old, sober, but gravely ill. All she wants is to find her daughter, and apologise for the lifetime of neglect and emotional abuse. Will mother & daughter be re-united?

They eventually re-united mom and daughter but what I found extremely irritating was the constant; "HOW DO YOU FEEL?" HOW DOES THAT MAKE YOU FEEL?" HOW DO YOU THINK THAT MADE HER FEEL?" questions posed by Doris when she interviews the people on her show. It's so baaad that you can even predict when she's going to pop that question..........!!

Admittedly there are good episodes that make me wonder what's the difference btw this show and Khumbul'Ekhaya and then there are some that just make you wanna switch off your TV and go to bed.

Have you watched it? And.........HOW DO YOU FEEL??????

Forgive and forget ne? How do I put it. Well, for me, its forgettable. I always remember whats on at 9pm on a wednesday(k'ekhaya for the less informed), but I can never remember when F&F is.

As far as the "how do you feel" question, eish, I can't comment really coz i've never actually watched the show long enough, but if you know me, then you know how much I hate pycho babble-questions like, "how does it make you feel", "what happened in your childhood to make you accept such things"....OMG, I'm glad I haven't watched it enough to hear all that load of bull!

But on the whole, I really wish I knew what goes on in a person's mind before they write to these shows. Is it really that much of sheer desperation, enough to enable you to air your laundry (dirty or not), on national tv?

it's exactly those kind of questions they ask!!!!!!!! I don''t know if they took a 3 second pscho class or if it's in the script but it's cringe-worthy for sure. I also hate those type of questions and more than my distate for airing my laundry in public it's those typa questions that ensure that i'll never ever write to this show! Even on radio shows when they've given away a prize and ask "How do you feel!!" I sigh with frustration.

But on the whole, I really wish I knew what goes on in a person's mind before they write to these shows

Yeah, i don't get this either! Usually they know where the person lives and they can just go there on their own and apologise-maybe the TV crew is a form of PRESHA on the aggrieved to accept the apology??

Forgive and forget.................how come I have never heard abt this show???
Plz tell me which channel and what time is on.........(even though it smells like a fo sho production..........LOL)???
Neway it seems like a Khumbulekhaya wanna be show...........isht, whatever happened to originality????

As for the name Doris, on my 18th birthday I would've went straight to home affairs and changed that name, and then when I am 75 my grandchildren can start calling Doris all over again............LOL

Yeah, i don't get this either! Usually they know where the person lives and they can just go there on their own and apologise-maybe the TV crew is a form of PRESHA on the aggrieved to accept the apology??...Exactly, i wonder if people get paid to appear in shows lyk this. Remember all you need is love? do you think all those people who appeared there all lovey-dovey were expressing genuine feelings? me i'll only do it if there's a million dollar cash paid beforehand...LOL

Renegade
12 Mar 2008 00:33

Ya Tox, thats how i've always justified it for those that write to the shows, they see it as a means of putting more pressure.

Nonny the show is running its second season on ETV.

Lol, i forgot to comment about the Doris thing! Eish, its so sad when our parents call us such things ne? Nonny, I get wat u mean, its such a granny name!
But I find it even more weird when ppl of our generation call their children by such names. My cousin just had a kid, called hime "Quinton", and a guy I know called his new born "Isabel"...really guys!

LOLOLOL!!!!
Bo Mavis, Sarah, Margaret, Happiness........if you're giving birth anytime soon, please stay away from grannies' names or naming your offspring in remembrance of some aunt or mom-in-law!

Remember all you need is love? do you think all those people who appeared there all lovey-dovey were expressing genuine feelings?
Vutmi, yeah!! Although i think most girls insisted their cheating partners take them there as a way of making up for their wayward ways he he he! i can't imagine doing that to someone else LET ALONE myself! I wouldn't even do Jam Alley!

Our poor parents felt the pressure plus we have guys called Obedience because if you didn't have an English (Christian) name you weren't for real. I'm heading to Home affairs one of these days. Can one of you bright sparks perhaps tell me how long it takes to remove a "christain name".

Vutmi
12 Mar 2008 00:58

then there are some that just make you wanna switch off your TV and go to bed..... this is exactly what I did last night, except I opted for the American Idols. I watched it for the first time (this season) last week, I could sort off tolerate it, but last night........I just got bored within the first 5 mins and changed channels......which is very unusual for a sucker for a reality TV that I am. One other little factor that I noticed was how she 'internalises' the stories she covers, the expression on her face shows serious and genuine concern.......which really worries me, my take is that for one to present such shows you have to be able to 'distance' yourself while showing very keen interest.

@ Toxic - Saw F&F y/day and I knew a lot was going to be said abt last nites show, vandag on this platform.

1. I think uSis` Doris is trying too hard to dig for the thruth and she poses all these emotional questions (i.e. how did dat make you feel)...you see the tactic here is to open wounds....She doesnt allow the process to happen naturally.

2.  Yena futhi uSis`Doris, she is too sympathetic - and i think the tactic is to see the other person breaking down or something.

3.  As for the her name  **sigh**

4.  Muhle yena usisi shame, qha????????????????

Tyra also likes to do that stupid question thing... I just wonder don't they watch the show themselves afterwards because learly if you watch the show, you can see those questions do not work.  Why ask them show after show...  leave that damn questions for the shrinks..

Hi guys jus decided to butt in...... the show doesn't interest me much, I seem to be more interested in what she's wearing; dress, shoes, etc.  than what she is waffling on about.

She was wearing this flimsy green number..... and did you notice that it was showing off her G-string..... well, with her being all pregnant and stuff the strings were digging into her backside around the hip area.  It's hard not to have noticed, coz she kept on going up and down, in and out of that combi of hers!!!

Talking about preggy presenters....... Khumbule'khaya seems to be getting a bit rounder around the mid area these days...???  Don't tell me they are starting their own trend of preggy presenters....... like what's happening with all them Hollywood ladies.
